991 C2S vs Alfa Romeo 4C question....
Hey,
I have to replace my fully optioned 991 C2S.
The question posed is;
Should I take a leap on the Alfa or replace it with a comparable 991.
Tested the Alfa on the street and it was a giggle but I love Porsche. The car would be primarily a fun track car.
Any my input would be welcome,

PS: Wife said no to a racecar....I still love her but GEEZ!

Those cars are apples and oranges. Why not consider a different fruit, like a GT4?

I wanted a 4C in the worst way when they were first announced.
Then I got a chance to drive one. Didn't care for the engine, transmission, or suspension. Also, there isn't a place in the cabin big enough to store a pair of sunglasses!
I've only seen one at a track day. The driver wasn't happy with it and brought his Cayman R the next day. I have no other details.

Keith, you know you love the Alfa (me too, having owned two Spiders).....there's a DTeq instructor @ Mosport with a white one and it gets around very well

I’ve seen a fair number of 4C’s (and now some Giulias) at the track, in greater proportion than on the road, by far.
They seem to be holding up well. More exciting than the 987/981 cars to drive. Maybe not quite as quick as a GT4, but the car is much more fun than almost anything else similar, IMO.
I raced (and still own two) Giuliettas and have a soft spot for pretty Italian things...

I like Alfas, have an older Alfa Spider and I'd love to have a 4C. Fun little cars, and definitely great track toys. But I don't think I'd want one instead of a 991. I think you'd get tired of the 4C and miss the more versatile Porsche.
P.S. I think I'd explain to the wife that a real race car is going to be safer on the track, even just for DE's, than a street car (you don't have to tell her about more maintenance, more logistics and track support, needing a tow vehicle, trailer, etc.

I'd pass on the 4C. If you want a small light car just buy a track prepped Elise or Exige S. Alfa is way heavier, crappy engine, automatic only. I'd keep the 991S all day.

Used would be good. That car didn’t even have tread wear to the edge. Not tracked but yellow.
New is Rossa Tricolor. I don’t like red cars but this one is appealing. Maybe it’s an opportunity to brake away from Porsche maintenance prices and have fun!
