Need Seat Help Now
Supposed to take 928 to PVGP this weekend.
Took it out for a spin today. Wife had driven it last. She moved seat too far back for me (nice gesture). Not too far back to drive, but now it won't move forward.
Up down, and backrest move properly. Noticed both front seats are behaving same way??
Fuses are fine.
Help. If I can't move seats forward, kids can not fit behind me this weekend.
ARGHH!

Very front of seat underneath. Remove plastic cover over mechanism.

What sucks is I just got it back from the dealer, a service including getting a new a/c compressor.
Insert an allan key of the right size into the slot and move the seat. Hopefully if you are careful your plastic emergency gears will not shear the teeth.
No need to remove the cover as it should have an access hole in it.

took off plastic cover
don't see any hex or other way to manual adjust seat.
took out three brain tumors, fixed a broken neck and clipped an aneurysm in past week, far less complicated than this f'''in seat!!!!

oh well, convinced wife to drive 928, with daughter, I'll take son in 356, so we will have two cars at PVGP. Not the end of the world.
Have dealer fix seat some time in near future. They actually are pretty good.
Thanks for the suggestions regardless.

I did a little Search and found the following:
95 GTS has no manual adjustment. The same fellow's 93 does have the manual adjustment.

I had exactly the same problem with my GTS.
The problem was that the threaded rods, which were greased with lithium grease or similar from the factory, pick up dust and grit over the years, which builds up at the limits of travel of the rods. The buildup packs behind the white limit stop nylon washers and prevents them from going fully to the limit of travel, and the dry grease also slows the travel down.
When the grease builds up against the nylon washers it doesn't do it evenly, and one side can go further towards the limit than the other, which means that one side goes a little further than the other and this means that the seat is skewed a bit when it gets to the end of travel .. which jams it.
The fix is to remove the bowden drive cables from the motor head, by removing the wire spring clips, and then removing a slide lock plate just a few inches forward from the back end of the cable, which allows you to remove the bowden cable entirely. You can then clean the bowden cable inner and outer and re-grease, and clean all the crud off the worm drive shaft and re-grease also. Unfortunately the only way to do this successfully and properly is to take the seats out.
Another post to follow shortly showing how to clean the drive rods ....
I can confirm that my seats don't have the emergency drive gears, but they do have the holes in the covers.
Here's a pic of the cover removed and what you see underneath .... plus what needs to be removed to get the bowden cables out.

that's exactly what I see.
The clip is blocked by the cables.
If this is a huge job, will not have time prior to PVGP, so I appreciate your input, but don't want you spending a bunch of time answering my question.
thanks

Dave,
Excellent post.
Still curious as to why the fellow lost longitudinal adjustment on BOTH sides. I thought that there was a control unit for EACH side, and they're not inter-connected.
