vintage Porsche 911 parts

If you ever dreamed of opening your own vintage Porsche 911 shop this collection of parts can get you started.

Over the last several years the market for vintage Porsche 911 cars has gone through the roof. Along with it the prices for vintage Porsche 911 parts have also increased. It is simple supply and demand. Original parts for the air-cooled 911s are tough to find, and prices reflect that. However, Henry Schmidt of Supertec Performance in Fallbrook, California has been collecting vintage Porsche 911 parts for 38 years. And his collection now includes thousands of parts including 50 engine cases, cylinder heads, heat exchangers, and a whole lot more. And now he has decided to sell them all in one shot.

Schmidt decided to list his entire vintage Porsche 911 parts collection on the auction site Bring a Trailer. Although if you win this auction, you will probably need several trailers to transport all the parts. The current high bid for the collection is $105,000. The auction is open until Wednesday, September 27. If you miss out, you might never again have an opportunity to purchase a collection like this.

Why Sell?

Schmidt states that he decided to sell his collection as he is closing his parts business. He lost his Porsche parts guy, and he has been struggling to find a replacement. He also runs an engine shop and trying to run both by himself has been too difficult. So, he is letting all his parts go. Although he states that if the winning bidder is interested, he will negotiate the sale of the business along with the lease. If not, the bidder has 30 days to remove the parts from the current location. If the buyer needs more time, a month-to-month lease can be worked out.

Why Buy?

Thinking of a career change or do you want to expand your current business? This is the perfect opportunity. You have to view this auction to truly get a sense of just what is up for sale here. Gearboxes, axle shafts, clutch assemblies, flywheels, and bearings. There are seats and suspension components. Brake rotors and calipers, doors, engine covers, windows, and trim pieces are all part of this incredible collection. An opportunity like this does not come around very often. Don’t miss out.

Well-Organized

For a collection this vast it is surprisingly well organized. All the engine cases along with the serial numbers are documented and pictured in the gallery for this auction. All the parts are grouped together nicely and would make whatever specific part you are looking for easy to find. Keeping a collection like this well sorted is no easy task. Hopefully the winning bidder cares for these precious parts as much as Schmidt has. This is Porsche history right here. Take good care of it, and help support the air-cooled folks who need it.
