Taking the Taycan to the Arctic?

By -

Curious whether the new Taycan can survive heinous weather conditions? Spoiler: It can and it looks good doing it too.

Now that the Taycan is out for review, we’ll be seeing a lot of different journalists taking their spin on Porsche’s latest sports sedan. We understand that there is always a way to spice up the video, however, we didn’t think taking a Porsche to the arctic circle was a requirement. We do appreciate going above and beyond the status quo however. That is exactly what Carwow has done on YouTube with their latest review of the Taycan Turbo S and 4S. We can guarantee from the start that it will be unlike any other review you’ll watch. Let’s get into it.

Considering this is Rennlist, we assume that 99% of the folks on here already know every technical detail about the Taycan and its model line up. However, we still state that for now, the 4S is the cheapest Taycan available and the Turbo S is the most expensive. It is smart to keep in mind electric vehicles don’t perform well in cold conditions. However, host Mat Watson starts off with a launch with the Turbo S in the snow. Considering the car is on studded tires, we were curious to see if it can retain some performance. In the snow, the Turbo S managed a 14.2 second quarter-mile. That’s the same quarter-mile time of Watson’s own 996 911 with the 3.4L in dry conditions.

However, we are also curious about the entry-level 4S model, as it is without a doubt going to be the biggest seller within the line-up. Watson starts off with the age-old question of variable-AWD vehicles and that is will it drift? With the proper adjustments, the car does slide easily in the snow. The Mamba Green color is probably one of the best color options for the Taycan available. It looks simply stunning with the blank white backdrop that is the arctic. Watson describes the interior design as “high-tech 911” and we agree.

The dash styling without a doubt features one of the best looking instrument clusters on market, showing off the impressive curved bezel-less design. While the rear-seat might not be a spacious as a Panamera, Watson says it is perfectly good for most normal-sized humans. The main issue is more headroom if you are over 6 feet in the backseat. In regard to charging of the battery, it took around 70 minutes for the Taycan to go from 6% charge to 81%. That was done with a high-speed supercharger cable. However, with a regular charger you would install at home, the same process would take around 9 hours. Is it worth it to put the money into a Taycan? Let us know in the comments below.
