RENNLIST.com - 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Porsche’s track-day darling is getting a lovely makeover for Geneva, but we have your first look here.

The earth will spin, the sun will rise, we all pay taxes, and then at some point we die. These are the constants of our universe. Another universal constant is Porsche’s relentless upgrade and enhancement cycle of the 911 range. And thanks to some crafty photographers up in Scandinavia, we have your first look at the refreshed Porsche 911 GT3 RS, completely free of camo.

The new look is designed to bring the GT3 RS up to 991.2 generation cars, and makes the car more visually similar to the new GT2. That includes the love-it-or-hate-it intake lip in front of the hood. As you can see, there is a new nose with sharper lines that cut a much more aggressive profile. Expect this new design to improve cooling, and based on the changes near the wheels, we’d expect reduced aerodynamic drag as well. New front fenders feature massive vents to match the GT2 RS, and the rear fender intakes appear to have been massaged as well.

Out back the now-iconic RS wing sits high and proud above a redesigned rear bumper. The new rump carries that slimmer and wider look that have come to define the 991.2 generation machines, and coupled with that wing we think it looks astonishing. Hopefully the exhaust seen here is just for prototyping, because dear god is it awful.

If you were hoping for some performance enhancements, we have some sad news. We have no real indication that the new GT3 RS will be packing much more grunt than the car it will be replacing. Porsche has just about reached the limit of what it can reliably pull from the 4.0-liter flat-six engine in a production car.

If you want to see this particular machine in a shade other than black, keep your eyes here on Rennlist. Porsche is set to officially show this thing off at the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks, and we are certain to see it in a few other shades at that time. Fingers crossed we get a few more wild and exotic colors like we used to.
