2010 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

Carrera 4S has low miles, simple-yet-popular upgrades and it is in pristine condition inside and out.

Buying a used vehicle can be tough, but buying a special used vehicle like a 997 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S can prove to be particularly tricky. These cars still demand upwards of $60,000 even though some of them are 10+ years old. Paying $60k for a car that is 10 years old might bring about some concerns, but from time to time, you find a seller who is as obsessive with the car as you plan to be.

The 2010 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S shown here was listed for sale on the forum by “LISsailor” and it is everything that you want in a used sports car. The OP has clearly put a world of effort into keeping the car looking as great as it did when he bought it. In fact, the simple upgrades coupled with a strong maintenance routine has made this 911 nicer than when he got it, yet it is still listed for a reasonable price.

Carrera 4S Introduction

When the OP first posted this 2010 Porschr 911 Carrera 4S for sale in the Rennlist Marketplace, he provided quite a bit of history on the car. This includes where he bought the car used, what the previous owner purchased when she traded in this 911, where the car was originally purchased and everything that has been done to and with this Carrera 4S in few years that he has owned it.

2010 Carrera 4S Coupe with full leather, and Manual Transmission available. No accidents, overrevs, or mistreatment. The car is always brought up to proper oil temperature before revs over 3.5k.

I am second owner and purchased the car in 2017 with 14k miles from Wide World Ferrari/Maserati. My PPI took place at Porsche of Greenwich where the car was given a clean bill of health with the exception of only age-based maintenance being required. These items where resolved at that time. The car was traded on a Ghibli by a woman who kept the car at her summer home in Millbrook, NY. Originally purchased from Porsche of Danbury and serviced there prior to my ownership. I went there after delivery to verify maintenance and to get the car manual stamped.

After I acquired the car I went about sorting it out with the intention of keeping it forever (don’t we all). In that time I replaced the original rubber with Michelin PS4S tires, added 991 front lip mounted with adapter kit, hardwired for radar detector above rear-view mirror, installed rennline pedals with heal-toe extensions. The steering wheel was sent to LedermenZ/Grigul Design in Latvia to be recovered with alcantara and made thicker while still retaining the heating function. To match, I installed a GT2RS shifter (I have the original black as well). I also replaced the yellowing stone guards, added colored crests on wheels and clear side markers. My favorite mod, without a doubt, is the Fister Sport Exhaust.

The car sits under cover on a battery tender in my heated garage from November until April on wheel cradles. Again, I have babied the car and obsessed over it with the intention of never selling. I try to never scuff the door sill upon entry or scratch the key surround when inserting for engine start. But, the purchase of a vacation home forces sale. I have added only approximately 6k miles in my ownership since 2017. The paint is in very good shape with no scratches or swirls. Cosmetically and mechanically, the car is in fantastic shape and only driven on sunny days. Annual servicing takes place at Rennwerke in Elmsford, NY in each of the 3 autumns of my ownership. If you are in the 997.2 market, this car is not to be missed.

The seller also included two dozen pictures of the car inside and out, from just about every angle. Really, this is how a used car listing should look, leaving few questions for prospective buyers. We have included a few of the pictures here, but for a better look, we recommend that you click here to check out the full sale post.

A Look at the Pricing

This 2010 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S was originally listed for $65,900, but it has been lowered to $64,900. According to Kelley Blue Book, a 911 in such great shape with 21,000 miles is worth anywhere from $56,410 to $63,831, but that price assumes that everything is stock. The seller surely knows that modifications don’t increase vehicle value on dollar-for-dollar basis, but there are some attractive upgrades made to this Carrera 4S.

The buyer is likely to appreciate the hardwired radar detector, so that adds some value. The 991 lip gives the front end a sportier look while the combination of the rewrapped steering wheel and the GT2RS shifter has a similar impact on the cabin. We don’t know the price of those items or installation, but we know that the Fister exhaust system for the 997.2 starts at $449 and climbs up around $2,000 with added options.

In other words, this 911 Carrera 4S is priced slightly above the expected range on KBB, but when you factor in the extras, this Porsche is priced to move for someone who likes the upgrades.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
