‘Uninspiring’ Vintage Rides Finally Get Some Respect
Eighties and Nineties cars get their own totally awesome event at NorCal’s Radwood auto show, debuting June 3.
Get ready to get wowed with a trip back to the future when the Radwood retro auto show rolls into Northern California this summer. The first automotive festival of its kind, Radwood will be providing enthusiasts of 1980s and 1990s cars with a show that organizers promise will be, like, totally rad!
Radwood’s debut event is set to take place June 3 near San Francisco, at the Brisbane Marina in Brisbane, California. The show is intended primarily for cars built between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1999, though exceptions will be made for earlier cars with a distinctly period-correct aesthetic.
“For years, ’80s and ’90s cars have been written off as generally not fun to drive, uninspiring, and uniformly boxy,” say Radwood’s organizers.
“Our aim is to prove that there were plenty of exciting and interesting enthusiast cars of the era worthy of celebration. Whether you love mini-trucks, lowriders, American Muscle, imports, race cars, or something else entirely, we want to help put you together with like-minded enthusiasts that will appreciate your ride.”

The retro car show is free to spectators and will be taking place from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Of course, because those eras had the coolest cars as well as the coolest clothes, period dress is encouraged. So get your Members Only jacket, Ray-Bans, Hammer pants, checkered Vans or Zubaz out of storage. In addition to the cars, guests will be treated to period-specific entertainment, too.
The cost to enter your totally tubular ride in the car show is $10 per car. (Or $15 at the gate.) There will also be special display parking for $50 for “Radwood Royalty,” exceptionally stunning vehicles that represent the ultimate essence of the era and are subject to organizer approval.
