Cayman GT4 Plays Cat and Mouse With an Aventador SV

The Nürburgring is pretty much like Disneyland for drivers. It’s where dreams come true, and for some, it’s probably the happiest place on earth. Why? Because it’s open to the public driving, and while you’re on the track, you might just see something like a friggin’ Lamborghini Aventador SV. As in the $500,000 track-focused LP 750-4 Superveloce with 740 horsepower, 509 lb-ft of torque, four-wheel drive, and a top speed of 217 mph.

The driver in the video below is in a dream car, as well: the brand new Porsche 981 Cayman GT4. It might be half the power of the Lambo, but low expectations would be a mistake. The GT4 is powered by a 385-horsepower mid-engined flat-six that will hit a top speed of 184 mph. And it has a chassis that has been tuned specifically for the track, with a curb weight of less than 3,000 pounds.

The Cayman he’s running is completely stock and running on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. As such, he was able to hit a 7:58 lap time — not bad for his first time at the ‘Ring with the GT4. And that’s with only one driving glove (he was apparently so excited that he forgot to put on the right one).

Check out the fun footage below:

And here’s what it looked like from behind the Cayman in the BMW Ring Taxi:
