Porsche 959 Sport is the Rarest of All 959s

959-1

This car is about to celebrate a birthday. It was completed on October 4th, 1988, and over the years has experienced some interesting government regulations. It was originally supposed to depart from Germany to the United States, but that idea was not to be. The U.S. government didn’t buy the story that it would be used as a track vehicle, so off it went to France. It then traveled back to Germany, then hiked on over to a collector in England, and finally, after 28 years, it is now on U.S. soil.

The current purveyors of this 959 are renown 959 experts, Canepa Automotive. While it was in London, Canepa performed their usual magic to the 959’s electronics, and at this same time, it would undergo a $15,000 service. With less than 2,300 miles completed, this 959S is nearly all original, and sines in concours quality. However, these cars were intended to be driven. Despite the prefect condition, it is my hope that temptation gets the best of the new owner, and they take a few laps in angler with this wonderful machine. Al Holbert sure would be proud.
