Porsche 935 Clubsport in All-carbon Is Exactly How We’d Spec One

Bare carbon Porsche 935 Clubsport is the good kind of evil and the only way to spec one, in our humble opinion.

It’s been a couple of years since the amazing Porsche 935 Clubsport was revealed in all its retro racing glory. And yet, the car is still leaving an impression on everyone who sees it in the flesh. This was true recently when a picture of a Porsche 935 Clubsport finished in bare carbon fiber was posted to Reddit, and folks subsequently drooled all over their keyboards – us included.

And who can blame them/us? The 935 racer just looks totally different and rather sinister in this raw, all-black, design. And who wouldn’t want to taunt the fact that they own a super special car, one that trades the steel and aluminum panels of the 911 GT2 RS on which it’s based with some pricey, beautiful carbon fiber?

Thanks to those parts, the Porsche 935 Clubsport weighs in at just a hair over 3,000 pounds. But with a price tag of $817,000 and only 77 produced in total, not many have the privilege of owning one. Those that do are forced to enjoy their slick ride on the track or in the garage only, as it isn’t street legal. But is there a better piece of automotive art out there than this?

We don’t know how many of those 77 cars produced were spec’d in a natural carbon-fiber finish, but to us, it’s the obvious choice. Sure, we love those cool retro paint jobs we’ve seen on some examples that pay homage to the original 935, which scored a win at Le Mans back in 1979. But this is a modern version of that classic, so we’re digging the modern finish.

We mere mortals may never get the chance to experience a new 935 on the track, and simply seeing one in person is a special treat, truthfully. That’s especially true when said machine is finished in bare carbon, which effectively portrays its evil nature. And with 700 horsepower patiently waiting to be unleashed at the press of the right foot, little weight to push around, and one heck of a chassis underneath it, the 935 Clubsport is nothing less than the good kind of evil.
