Why go with a V8 swap? This enthusiast went off the beaten path by stuffing a turbocharged K20A2 four-cylinder into his Porsche.

Air-cooled Porsche 911s may be some of the most sought after vehicles on the road these days, but that doesn’t stop owners from completing radical engine swaps on the sports cars. Completing a V8 engine swap onto an older 911 has become popular, but this enthusiast decided to go down another route and placed a turbocharged K20A2 four-cylinder engine from an Acura RSX Type S into the back of his 911.

Originally reported by Road & Track, YouTuber Because Daddy gives an extensive walk around of the Honda-powered 911, highlighting a lot of the work that went into creating the one-of-a-kind 911 that is lovingly called, “The Unicorn.” At the heart of the beast sits a turbocharged K20A2 four-cylinder engine that powered various vehicles, including the Honda Civic Type R, Acura RST Type S, and Honda Integra Type R. But that’s not the only thing that has been done on the 911.

As Because Daddy points out, the bodywork is custom with bespoke, aluminum side skirts, wide fenders, new paint, and much more. The interior is stripped down to the metal with racing seats, racing pedals, what appears to be an aftermarket shifter, a racing steering wheel, and more gauges, because a track-ready car needs more gauges.

The owner, claims that the 911 originally had a V8 swap done to it back in 2003 by Renegade Hybrid, which is a company out of Nevada that’s known for stuffing one of Chevrolet’s LS lineup of engines into the back of 911s. For some reason, the owner wasn’t satisfied, or just wanted something different, with the setup and went for the K20A2 four-cylinder engine.

Before starting the car and going for a ride, the owner claims that the engine has some trouble staying cool – nothing’s perfect – but is working the kinks out of the car and has plans to do a tune in the near future. Because Daddy states that there’s more coverage of “The Unicorn” to come. Hopefully, that includes some power figures because we’d love to see what kind of numbers this beast is putting out.
