Air Lift Performance celebrates 70th anniversary with debut of Rotiform co-founder’s 996 flatnose.

The show may be over, but we at Rennlist still have plenty to share from SEMA 2018. We’ve combed the floor for the finest builds based upon Stuttgart’s official car.

We all know Porsche is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, but did you know it’s also the 70th anniversary of Lansing, Michigan’s Air Lift Performance? The air suspension company decided to share its birthday cake with a very special Porsche at its SEMA booth, so let’s have a look.

One of Japan’s latest exports is the fusion of the 935 Flachbrau’s flat nose to the bodies of 997 911s. This retro-mod 911, though, is based upon the oft-maligned 996.

Owned by Jason Whipple, the co-founder of Southern California’s own Rotiform, this 996 911 flat nose was built by Old & New of Hiroshima, Japan. The slammed stance of this 996 is no doubt helped by Air Lift Performance’s own bolt-on adjustable air suspension, which likely didn’t require any more modification than swapping out the old suspension.

And of course, it has to wear Rotiform wheels. These three-piece BLQs (named for the airport code for Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna, Italy) pop against the endless black body.

You also can’t have a 996 flat nose without the 935’s big rear wing. Whipple put it best on his Instagram: “Looks like 996 values are about to go up thanks to @oldnew_jp.” Let’s hope they do, but not before we get ours to ship over to Old & New.
