Matt Farah recently had a chance to get behind the new 718 Cayman S at a press event in Texas. He filmed one of his famous “One Take” videos to see if the car is any good. He liked the Boxster, but the fixed-roof car is different. Is it still likable?

Of course it is! Nearly everything Farah said about the Boxster when he drove it in Spain applies to the 718 Cayman S. It’s faster, more agile, and better equipped than the car that it replaced.

None of us really doubt the capabilities of the latest Cayman, but we all do doubt the sound of the car. By downsizing to a turbocharged flat-4, Farah mentions that at idle it sounds a bit more Subaru than he’d care to see it, but doesn’t think it sounds too bad once you start revving it out.

It really appears that the 718 is the best Cayman yet, despite the sound. Would you go for a new one or hit up the classifieds for a used one of the previous generation? Let us know in the comments below or over in the forums!
