If you’ve been following Porsche enthusiast news for a bit, then you probably know Magnus Walker is about as enthusiastic as he is hairy.

One of Magnus’s favorite stomping grounds, the 6th Street Bridge in Downtown L.A., went and got “concrete cancer” and has been declared unfit for earthquake duty. So she’s getting demo-ed, and replaced with something sturdier in 2020.

Last week, to honor the closing of the historic bridge, the great bearded one put all that enthusiasm to the task of organizing a “Farewell Outlaw gathering.”

6th Street Bridge Farewell Outlaw gathering – 9 PM -Wednesday Jan 20 – under the bridge at Santa – Fe Av – ALL makes of Car, van , Truck & Bike welcome -pay respect to the Iconic LA Landmark Structure before it’s gone – see you there #6thstbridge #farewell

I’ll be honest with you, I lived in L.A. for about ten years, and I would never be able to find this bridge without Google Maps. So apparently I wasn’t hanging out in Outlaw circles. (Though I have had many a beer at Outlaws bar and grille in Playa del Rey, which has unfortunately also closed.)

But even so, now I’m feeling a bit nostalgic for the old bridge, especially after reading Flatsixes firsthand account of the event, and seeing some of the 100 or so cars that came out for the impromptu car show. You can see a few of the great pictures here, but head on over to Flatsixes for the rest.
