Luftgekühlt: A Porsche Fanatic’s Dream
Porsche racer Patrick Long and SoCal designer Howie Idelson elevate sports car’s aesthetic appeal in the world of art.
Air-cooled Porsches are some of the most revered vehicles ever made. And Luftgekühlt, which was created by famous Porsche racer Patrick Long and uber-talented Southern California creative director Howie Idelson, celebrates the world of air-cooled Porsches. The dynamic duo has been working overtime lately to ensure that Porsche gets it due props courtesy of a great new coffee table book, The Luft, as well as hosting another recent successful Luftgekühlt event.
This year’s Luftgekühlt – Luftgekühlt 4 – took place last month at Warehouse No. 10 near Long Beach, California, and was a hit with worldwide Porsche enthusiasts.
Over 5,000 enthusiasts attended Luftgekühlt 4, reports Sotheby’s, meeting up at Warehouse No. 10 in San Pedro, where “historically significant or interesting cars, both race and street” greeted guests.
Before leaving RM Sotheby’s offices, though, attendees were treated to an incredible group of air-cooled Porches, including the incredible No. 9 Porsche 917 with the iconic Gulf livery. The reception also saw the launch of The Luft book, a 260-page tome that takes a look at the first three years of Luftgekühlt.
For air-cooled Porsche fanatics, Luftgekühlt is a must-visit show that offers a close-up look at the classics. Stay up to date with details about Luftgekühlt 5 here.
