Low Loader Trailers Offer Perfect Porsche-Hauling Solution

Anything that eliminates the headache of trailering our Porsche (or tearing up its bodywork) is worth looking into.

If you’ve ever tried to load/unload your Porsche from a trailer, you already know the struggle. The basic design of most trailers means that loading is rather difficult with cars that sit low to the ground. Throw in the fact that most trailers aren’t wide enough for our cars and you’ve got a big headache. But there is a solution for both problems: low loader trailers.

We recently caught wind of these aluminum low loader trailers built by a company called Futura. And for obvious reasons, they immediately piqued our interest. Mostly because they look like a great way to transport a race car. Or keep our rides in perfect condition when we head out to the upcoming Werks Reunion.

Low Loader Trailers

The beauty of low loader trailers lies in the fact that they enable you to easily load cars that might otherwise lose an airdam on a set of steep loading ramps. But the Futura trailers take that concept a step further by eliminating the need for loading ramps by utilizing a powered deck that can be raised or lowered via remote control.

that can be raised or lowered via remote control.

When lowered, the deck uses a series of tapered extrusions to maximize clearance. And the initial step is only one-inch tall, so even the lowest of cars can clear it. The sides and front lip of the trailer also stand at just four inches, which is enough to stop the front tires without damaging the bumper.

The aluminum trailers are available in both single and tandem axle. If you’re just looking to haul your Porsche around the show circuit, the single axle is a good choice with a 3,500 pound max gross vehicle weight. If you need to haul a bunch of gear (like a few spares), the tandem axle trailer offers up to 7,000 pounds of G.V.W.R. Either way, anything that eliminates the aggravation of trailering our precious Porsches is worth a look.
