Don’t be fooled by its modern looks, this vintage beauty is wearing a 2000 GT-3 RS body kit.

Very few people have looked at a 1968 Porsche 911 and thought, I don’t like this. It needs to be changed. But you can’t say no one has ever said that, because the individual that decided to change the look of this ’68 911 did so with a radical body kit. We found this interesting race car on Hemmings and wanted to test the waters on whether this is a good or bad idea.

According to the listing, this vehicle started its life off as a 1968 911, but it has since been fitted with a 2000 GT-3 RS body kit. The egg-shaped 911 body kit is decked out with an interesting blue, red and purple paint job, featuring various numbers, and sponsor stickers, making it look like a bonafide racecar.

Besides the paint job, the kit adds an aggressive front end with canards, a massive wing that could double as a table, and wider rear fenders. The wheelbase, according to the listing, has been lengthened, most likely to accommodate for more racing goodies.

Power comes courtesy of a 3.6-liter engine with dual plugs and 46mm PMO carbs that drivers can enjoy through a G50 five-speed manual transmission. To bring the car to a screeching halt, the 911 features a big brake kit from a 911 Turbo – the year isn’t specified. And, to ensure that drivers have a pure racing feel — “and for those who can drive a car without ‘driver aids'” — the vehicle doesn’t have power brakes, power steering, nor, as the listing claims, computers.

Other track-focused touches include a full racing cage that’s mated to the suspension pick-up points, Michelin slicks, and Lexan windows. This, despite its confused look, is a true race car for those that have track experience. This isn’t for the faint of heart, but hey, at bidding starting at $35,000, this could be a gateway into the world of racing.
