Hot Rodded Porsche 911 RSR Leaves Lasting Impression

This incredible 911 RSR isn’t exactly easy to live with. But like any good relationship, the effort is well worth it!

In a world full of automotive appliances, few models evoke emotions like an air-cooled Porsche. Most cars are nothing more than boring tools we use to get places and haul things. So it’s no wonder that Porsche fans are so passionate about their glorious machines. And you certainly won’t find many more passionate than Frank Cassidy. Just feast your eyes (and ears) on his stunning Porsche 911 RSR hot rod, and it’ll tell you everything you need to know about the man behind it.

Like most of us, Cassidy became enamored with the brand at a very young age. The look, the sound, the motorsports heritage – it all left a lasting impression on the lad. Making matters worse, Cassidy’s dad bought a 1983 Targa, in which he took many trips to school with his mom behind the wheel. But unlike most of our mothers, his was a certifiable badass. Because one morning, she decided to chase a group of bank robbers through London. And that memory of the air-cooled Porsche screaming through the streets cemented what would become pure obsession.

Today, Cassidy owns a number of air-cooled cars. But none compare to this amazing, custom Porsche 911 RSR. And we’re not just talking about its undeniable fat-fendered look. The car’s 3.5-liter flat-six sounds like something that belongs in an award-winning symphony. Which should come as no surprise, because Cassidy is also an admitted music nut.

The yellow 911 RSR, lovingly named “Edith,” is the culmination of Cassidy’s lifelong passions. His goal was to build an air-cooled Porsche capable of “ruffling the feathers” of newer cars on the track. Cassidy admits that the car is difficult to drive, requiring both attention and effort to avoid disaster. But like any good relationship, that’s to be expected. After all, has anything good ever come easy?
