Graham Rahal's New GT3 is Perfection

Graham Rahal’s understated extrovert matches unique tastes of its famous owner.

Graham Rahal really does seem like a guy who’s got it all figured out. He comes from a racing family — his father Bobby won the 1986 Indianapolis 500 — and he’s a successful IndyCar driver in his own right, too. In addition, he’s a Porsche fanatic of the highest order, and he’s owned two beautiful Carrera GTs.

Getting to experience the joy of owning one Carrera GT in a lifetime would be enough for most Porschephiles, but not for Graham. The red one later went on to achieve infamy as the car Roger Rodas and Paul Walker lost their lives in, but more recently, his one-of-a-kind, paint to sample Sand White car turned heads for being a rare iteration of an already mega-rare car.

To say that he’s a man of taste would be an understatement, but if you need more proof, here’s his newest Porsche, a 991 GT3. Personally, we love the way that muted reds look on the 911 shape regardless of generation or trim. It’s an understated, classy look. Maroon, in any of its permutations, always looks right to us.

Introducing the most out of control #GT3 made to date. Thanks @porsche designers at #PECLA for helping make this happen. Paint to sample Amethyst metallic w/ custom pebble stone grey interior and contrasting stitching. Highlighted with houndstooth seat centers, and black leather accents w/ pebble stone stitch. Excited to get it to @grahamrahalperformance and add some more personal touches! #911 #carsofinstagram #carlife

This paint to sample Amythest Metallic example is no different. It’s a shade that, combined with the purposeful GT3 bodywork, demands your attention, while remaining subtle and understated. It makes a profound statement without being too in-your-face. To put it alliteratively, it’s aggressively aristocratic.

The rest of the car is equally impressive. The interior is stitched in peddle stone grey with contrasting stitching. That’s offset with black leather accents, naturally accented with pebble stone grey stitching. Like the exterior, it exudes performance, purpose, and luxury, all at once.

We personally can’t imagine a better way to own a GT3. Like his performance at the 2011 24 Hours of Daytona, Graham Rahal has achieved perfection.
