Golfer Paul Casey Goes Full Throttle in 911 GT3 RS

Porsche and Casey team up to test drive a race-ready GT3 on a crazy and challenging track.

Golfer Paul Casey has had a long relationship with Porsche. He’s competed in the Porsche European Open and has had a longtime passion for the German cars. So when Porsche approached him about taking the 911 GT3 RS out on the ADAC driving training center in Lüneburg, Germany, Casey naturally was thrilled.

“I’ve driven a GT3 RS before, but only on the road,” says Casey. “So, this is a dream to drive it in an environment where I can start to feel the limits of the car, the limits of myself…which are much lower than the car!”

The closed track is demanding, with many twists and turns, and that is exactly how Casey likes it. “It makes it all the more nicer for me to be able to take out a GT3 RS, for instance, on closed roads. Simply dreamlike and the perfect warm-up for the tournament week.”

Casey is put through the paces, and fulfills a lifelong dream along the way.

“When I was a kid I had posters on the wall. One of the cars I had was a Porsche 959. It was silver. It was perfect. I was never going to be a racing driver, but I dreamed about it.”

It is worth noting that Casey is very impressive on the track. He handles the car beautifully, and tries his hand at drifting with remarkable success.

Casey learned a lot on the track, from handling to safety. “I’m learning something. I’m becoming a better driver, and I’m having a lot of fun. It’s amazing!”

The video features fantastic footage that catches the Porsche from every angle. At the end, a pumped-up Casey has a look of utter satisfaction.

“Absolute dream. I’d love to do this again and again.” Casey laughs, “Will you let me come back tomorrow?”
