Eye Spy: A Freakin’ Manual in the 2017 Porsche 911 R!

To put it simply, there was one giant collective “UGH” when the 911 GT3 RS debuted without a manual gearbox option. You know, because purity, and mechanical feel, and work ethic, and all that other jibber jabber.

Lucky for those who don’t enjoy slappin’ a little paddle bass, Porsche is building a 2017 911 R, and thanks to some leaked images, we now know that the car will be offered with a manual. Praise the transmission gawds!

According to Jalopnik, that stick shift will come with the 500-horsepower 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six from the GT3 RS and will make pavement contact through rear-wheel drive. As you can see with your eyeballs, it doesn’t have as much aero as the RS, but it gets the stripe treatment and will certainly have some of the same weight-saving techniques used to keep it potent on the track.

There’s some bad news, though. The car hasn’t even debuted in Geneva yet, as it hasn’t even officially been unveiled technically, and the word is that it’s already sold out. Because screw the commoners, right?
