Duct-Taped, Pedal-Powered Porsche 911 GT3 RS

duct tape 911 GT3 RS

In case you needed one more example of the omnipotent powers of Duct Tape, behold this pedal-powered 911 GT3 RS known as the Ferdinand.

The Ferdinand is the work of artist Hannes Langeder, who obviously put his heart and soul into creating a pretty darn impressive 911 replica out of PVC pipes, cardboard, and duct tape. And thanks to its inventive dual-bicycle setup, the “car” even runs, albeit much more slowly than your average GT3 RS.

But hey, with the right lighting, you might be able to fool a would-be date into believing you drive an actual 911 GT3 RS. Check out the photos below, which show off the details of this obsessive DIY project. They come to us from the website that Langeder created to show off the vehicle (via Diply). It doesn’t provide much as far as how-to, but a lot of the photos speak for themselves, if you should happen to want to try this home (for reasons I can’t fathom).

Though the site lacks in the “how-to” department, it attempts rather poetically and philosophically to explain why the artist would go to such lengths to create something so… taped. I couldn’t exactly follow the reasoning, although it has something to do with perception versus reality. Which is great — kudos for creation, and all that — but if you ask me, the real 911 GT3 RS is a far more impressive piece of art than this could ever be.
