DRT 2021: Top 5 Showstoppers from the ‘Sunshine State’

‘Greatest Porsche Event in South Florida’- the event is a yearly spectacle featuring some of the highest quality Porsche builds in the country and DRT 2021 did not disappoint.

Never heard of DRT before? Well, Das Renn Treffen roughly translates from German to “The Race Meet.” This is a yearly event that takes place in historic South Miami and has done so since 2015. And DRT 2021 was the best yet.

The gathering has grown exponentially since its inception and now hosts well over 450 displayed vehicles along with over 10,000 spectators. Not to mention, the event has also generated over $100k in funding for local charities since the first event.

Along with the obvious qualities of the show comes some real quality Porsches in attendance. Without a doubt you would never see some of these vehicles if it wasn’t for this event.

Thanks to photographic genius Larry Chen and Hoonigan AutoFocus, we got a taste of some the absolute standouts from this year’s event. Here is a list of the Top 5.

1. 992 GT3 Cup Car

An obvious star of the show was the brand new 992 GT3-based cup car, which had just been delivered to the owners, 311RS Motorsport, the day before this showing. Finished in an absolutely killer and rare “GT Silver” paint, the car looks stunning in its raw form.

According to owner, Ryan Gates, this special delivery was “10 years in the making” and still feels surreal. There is a reason that “the Porsche cup car is the best selling race car in the world.”

2. 89′ DP Motorsport Slantnose

This completely jaw-dropping example is owned by RMCMiami. A original DP Motorsport chassis that was intended to be built for competition. The owner then changed his mind and now this Porsche is a “street car.”

Bodywork from Colonge, Germany, magnesium wheels, an RSTuned motor, a G50 gearbox, and no VIN. An perfect ode to 1980s Miami opulence and we love it.

3. Singer Design 964

Not too much information is given about this exact Singer Vehicle Design 964 or its owner. However, we think that the details speak for themselves.

Larry Chen reemphasizes Singer’s ideology of everything is important. He states, “the paint, the nickel trim, the gauges, the seat trim, the interior…everything is amazing.”

4. Leh Keen 81′ 911 SC Safari

Many folks might recognize this particularly blue 911, built by legend Leh Keen. Without a doubt one of the most interesting Safari builds they have accomplished.

Those purists at heart without a doubt love the dog-stricken interior and upholstery. While this thing might look wild, it definitely talks the talk as well and can take a off-road jump no issue.

5. 917 LMK Gulf Tribute

This one is truly special. Authentic 917s are known to sell easily for $10+ million dollars easily. This tribute vehicle is owed by Auto Source Group Miami, a boutique auto dealership.

The body was built by notable Australian manufacturer Kraftwerkz and hosts chassis number 021. Additional restorations were made by Patrick Motorsports.

It is graced by a 993 RSR 3.8 powerplant in the rear. As you can imagine the original flat-12s are not easy to come by or let alone fix.
