Owner of limited-edition Carrera 4 Cabriolet, one of only 19 ever made, recounts harrowing incident that destroyed his ‘pride and joy.’

Getting into an accident is a scary situation that has drivers going through a rollercoaster of emotions. Steven Parr, a proud owner of a second gen Porsche 911 996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, was recently involved in an accident in Stapleford, England, that saw his sports car get totaled. Parr, understandably, is devastated.

According to a report by the UK’s Mirror, Parr swerved his 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, which is one of only 19 ever made, into a driveway to avoid a collision with another vehicle. After narrowly escaping a head-on crash, a red Ford Ka then slammed into the side of Parr’s Porsche.

As the Mirror reports, Parr says two vans that were parked on the side of the road made for a sticky situation for the drivers involved in the incident. Parr walked away from the accident but his 911 didn’t fare as well. It was totaled.

Moments after the crash, Parr, in a video on the Mirror’s website, can be heard telling the driver behind the wheel of the Ka: “You wrote off my pride and joy, mate.” Parr also said, “Well that’s the end of the Porsche.” And from looking at the pictures of the incident, it’s clear that he’s right.

According to Parr: “The road is terrible and we have seen crashes happen on it all the time.” Richard MacRae, an independent counselor for Stapleford confirmed that the road has been blamed for accidents before. “There has always been problems on that road,” he said. “I have had meetings with the residents about this before and everyone agrees that the road is a problem especially because of the number of people who park along it.”

Four other vehicles were damaged in the incident and drivers and passengers sustained minor injuries. However,  no arrests were made.

“My car is most likely going to be written off, which is awful news for me especially, as I can’t replace it,” said Parr. “At least we are still alive though.”
