Prestige Imports will host 1 of 75 examples of Gunther Werks’ Project Tornado Porsche 911 at ‘Exotics & Espresso’

Gunther Werks does one thing exceptionally well: make magic with the Porsche 911. Specifically, the company creates modern performers on the 993 platform. Of course, the Gunter Werks builds are a long way from the original; the company says that their work is “a modern interpretation of a classic analog masterpiece.” Fortunately for car enthusiasts in South Florida, Prestige Imports will host one of these unique 993s at “Exotics & Espresso.”

The culprit is a matte gray Gunther Werks “Project Tornado.” The turbocharged 993 will make its appearance at “Exotics & Espresso” alongside many stunning cars. However, Porsche fanatics will have a hard time focusing on anything other than the rare restomod. Porsche made fewer than 70,000 993s over the model’s mid-to-late-90s run. However, Gunther Werks says they’ll make just 75 Tornados.

As a result, seeing one in the flesh is an event. From bespoke carbon fiber buckets to billet aluminum and Alcantara finishes, the Project Tornado is a premium modernization of a classic Porsche 911. At a glance, the 993 wears a handsome matte gray aesthetic with eye-popping red wheels. LED halo headlamps replace the classic halogen units.

Below the sinister color scheme, the Project Tornado features carbon fiber body panels that Gunther Werks claims are all part of the build’s commitment to “functional performance.” The company says the Tornado’s flared aero components generate downforce to keep the brutally powerful restomod planted.

The beating, high-revving heart of the Project Tornado Porsche 911 is a beast

Anything that looks the part quite as much as the Gunther Werks Project Tornado 993 does needs power to match. Well, the matte missile doesn’t disappoint, with a Rothsport Racing-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat six-cylinder engine.

The mill is good for between 600 and 700 horsepower. With power like that on tap, drivers will be glad for the aero and track-ready, computer-controlled suspension system.

Better yet, the exclusive clientele lucky enough to secure a Project Tornado are unlikely to get bored driving it; the custom 993 channels its ferocity through a six-speed Getrag manual transmission.
