Porsche crashes into dealership

An irate customer drove through a window and into the dealership after his Panamera Sport Turismo was without the options he ordered.

Stories of angry customers visiting dealers to vent are quite common. However, we caught this article over at The Drive reporting on a Porsche customer that took things to a whole new level to express his frustration. On Wednesday, May 2, a Taiwanese man identified as Chu smashed a Porsche through the plate glass window of Porsche’s Taichung City flagship.

The security video is quite surreal. Instead of panicking, the staff behind the reception desk simply move their chairs back. Once they finally moved out of the way completely, Chu accelerates straight into their desk. Still not happy with the damage he’s caused, he takes a third punt at the desk. That’s when someone opened the car door and he left the vehicle. Of course, this being the 21st century, everybody pulls out their phone to film him berating the dealership’s employees.

When police questioned Chu, he explained he had paid a $75,000 deposit on the car after negotiating the sale. He had ordered a Panamera Sport Turismo with options including Porsche’s 4D Chassis Control. In total, Chu agreed to pay $250,979 in total. But, when his Panamera was delivered in November, it arrived without 4D Chassis Control.

As you would expect, Chu refused to pay the outstanding balance and canceled the order. It appears that after months of negotiations, the dealership contacted him in April refusing to return his deposit. That’s when he flipped and drove the other Porsche through the window.

After Chu was released, he headed straight to the dealership again. Unsurprisingly, the dealership’s staff immediately called the police. However, when they showed up they found Chu was there to negotiate a resolution. Over the course of two hours, the dealership and Chu couldn’t reach an agreement. There is no actual end to this story yet though. The dealership still has his $75,000 deposit and Chu is charged with public endangerment, intimidation, and property damage.
