New 2017 911 Turbo, Straight From the Detroit Show Floor
If you are not counted among the hundreds of thousands of people that have made it into Cobo Hall for the 2016 North American International Auto Show, you are missing out on a lot of amazing sights. BMW has a new M2, Audi made a moon rover, and the first production model Ford GT is on display. But the real highlight of the show is the reveal of the refreshed 911 Turbo and Turbo S.
Porsche may be putting turbochargers on every 911, but they wanted to let the world know that the big daddy “Turbo” badged car is still the quickest and most exciting one they make. On the stand they had both the new coupe and the cabriolet, but it was the hardtop I found the most attractive. It was wearing Graphite Blue Metallic paint, which in practice looks like the perfect gray sky of a sunset behind a storm cloud.
To give you an idea of what the new cars looks like, I took the chance while I was at the show to snag a few photos, and we have collected them for you here. If you are hoping for shots of race-ready rigs like the GT4 ClubSport or the 919 race car like we had at the L.A. show, you’ll have to look to our old galleries. Unless Porsche rolled them out after press days were over, there was no sign of either machine at the booth.
