Best Porsches from CCA’s Upcoming Late Summer Auction

CCA Porsches

Classic Car Auctions has quite a diverse array of desirable Porsches coming up for sale August 3. These are our favorites.

If there’s one thing we never get tired of doing, it’s perusing the many thousands of Porsches for sale across the web, dreaming of adding many of them to our own personal collection. And while scanning Classic Car Auctions’ upcoming August 3 sale, we found several we’d love to own. Each for very different reasons, of course. We picked out our personal favorite Porsches from the auction, but you can scope out every lot for yourself by heading over here. Then, be sure and let us know if we got it right, or if there’s another cool car there that caught your eye!

1988 Porsche 944

CCA Porsches

This Silver Rose 944 is special for a number of reasons. The biggest of which is the fact that it’s rather rare – one of just 77 built for the U.K. market, in fact. It’s also in excellent original condition, save for a respray back in 2008. Despite those endearing qualities, the auction estimate for this early Turbo S car is a very reasonable $10-$12k.

1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa

CCA Porsches

There was a time when you could easily find clean air-cooled Porsches for little money, but those days are mostly gone. And yet, this 3.2 Carrera looks like a pretty solid deal with an auction estimate of $35-$40k. With just under 100k miles and scoring 101 out of 135 in CCA’s condition score, it’s a nice example that’s almost guaranteed to gain value in the coming years. And personally, even though some don’t care for them, we’re total suckers for whale tails.

1980 Porsche 924 Turbo S1

CCA Porsches

The 924 and 944 are largely ignored today, despite the fact that both sport many great attributes that make them well worth owning. And you won’t find many in better condition than this gorgeous 924 Turbo. Even with just 45k miles on the clock, the previous owner commissioned a full scale professional restoration for the car. The result is a near-perfect machine with fresh mechanicals and cosmetics. And with an auction estimate of just $20-$25k, you’d never be able to replicate it for that kind of money, either.

1978 Porsche 911 SC Targa

CCA Porsches

Speaking of deals, how about this 911 SC Targa for $25-$31k? It’s certainly not perfect, but it is a nice surviving example that’s been with the same owner for the last 23 years. Plus, it has a mere 91k on the odometer thanks to many years in storage. Thus, the Minerva Blue beauty is in very solid shape and wouldn’t take much work to transform into a very nice cruiser.

1988 Porsche 928 S4

CCA Porsches

Fans of the 928 won’t find many nicer than this fine, 58k-mile example. The car is fresh off a cam belt and water pump replacement. Which makes it good for many more miles of fun. The Porsche has also lived under just two owners in its lifetime, and comes with a highly documented service history. And who doesn’t dig that attractive Marine Blue exterior?
