992 911 Turbo S: The Peak of Driving Emotion
Porsche’s latest video will make you cry when you realize you’re not currently behind the wheel of a new 992 Turbo S.
Yes, the world’s supercar killer is finally back. This is of course none other than the 911 Turbo S, Porsche’s answer to ultimate performance, luxury, and practicality all in one. Does it need to be bright orange and look like a spaceship to excel? No. This is a familiar shape, one that people have seen since the 1960s. This shape has been associated with a lot of things. Winning races, passing you on the freeway, jealously, and envy also may ring a bell. What makes this car so special and so desirable to so many people?
Well, we think that there isn’t one right answer to that single question. That in itself makes this car standout among the ordinary. It isn’t just good at one or two things, its near perfect at just about everything it tries to achieve. Its class-leading and impressive on so many levels, it would have to be intentional to ignore its standout qualities. However, without a doubt there is one quality that standouts above the rest. This has to be the driving. So much so, Porsche made a video about it. This is that video.
Not a single word is said in this video. For that exact reason, we are able to understand it so much better than we would have otherwise. See, the thing is, the point of the video is driving. Driving can’t be described by words in a way that it would ever make sense when you actually do it. So the video is just filled with action shot after after action shot of this new Turbo S.
Why? Because with every passing curve and landscape this car graces, we learn something new. We see a different angle of the car in motion and it makes us wonder the begging question yet again: what is it like to drive? By the end of the video, we’ve seen not one, but two Turbo S’ running up and down the canyons, across mountains and rivers. At this point, you wonder why you’re doing what you’re doing at all and not out driving a Turbo S instead. That’s good marketing isn’t it? We sure think it is. Because now all we can think about is what its like to drive one.
Many of us Porsche fans have asked this exact question since we were kids. Some of us have gotten the chance to answer this question, others have yet not. However, we all already know the answer. We just want to feel it for ourselves. The answer? The peak of driving emotion.
