2019 Porsche Macan S: The Best Luxury Crossover on the Market?
There is always a situation where something is either too little and too much. We think this Macan S is just right.
Let’s face it, SUVs and crossovers are here to stay here in the U.S. The market is actually so popular now that some might consider it saturated. That means its necessary to sort through the bad and ugly and find the vehicles actually worth buying. With the 2019 model year, the Porsche Macan, the brand’s luxury crossover gets a little bit of a refresh.
While the Macan is one of Porsche’s newest vehicles in their ever-growing line-up, it has been quite a while since its release in 2014. The car definitely has been begging for a little bit of an upgrade and thankfully we have received it. The 2019 model hosts a variety of changes from the exterior appearance to the infotainment system. Thanks to The Straight Pipes on YouTube, we get to see what this refresh is all about.
Now, this isn’t the base model Macan, but rather, the Macan S. With the S the most important differentiation is the engine. Gone is the 4-cylinder turbo and in is the new V6 twin-turbo. This engine makes around 348 HP and 352 ft/lbs of torque, so its far from slow. This is all hooked up to a 7-speed PDK, so you know the shifts are never a millisecond off.
Displayed on this particular Macan is the beautiful Miami Blue paint option. The interior now features the widescreen 10.9 inch display, which is being phased into all the new Porsche models. Options available with the Macan S are active suspension, air suspension, and the Sport Chrono package. The singular horizontal LED taillight is definitely the most distinctive refresh over the previous model. Going along with that theme is also the headlights, which have a new angled DRL LED design.
The Macan S seen in this video is priced out at around $64,400 USD. This puts it straight into the middle ground of the Macan trims. It is far from the most expensive, but also not the cheapest. This brings us the the real question about this Macan S. Is this the right Macan to buy within the line-up? We think yes. It may not have as much power as the Turbo, but it is so much faster than the standard model. With the new styling and options available, the SUV is without a doubt a winner.
