Rennlist
was started in May 1998. The name is derived from
"Renn", which is German for "the
race", and "list", which is our heritage,
starting with email lists covering just about anything about
Porsche's. In short
form, "R + List" conveys the thought that this is a
vehicle for a community
with common interests to interact with, and support, each other.
Within
two weeks of Rennlist's inception, there were roughly 4,000
subscribers to its' 12 email lists. In just over three years,
the site has grown to support more than 65,000 subscribers!

In addition, Rennlist also supports
site/lists for other marques, including Audi, BMW, and
Lamborghini.
While
commercial sponsorship helps fund Rennlist activities, it also
provides a means for sponsors to interact with thousands of
Porsche-focused subscribers.
It's not unusual to find our sponsors providing online
technical interchange on the email lists and web discussion
groups, providing periodic specials and discounts to Rennlist
members, and making their resources available to help Rennlist
members further their marquee interests.
Individual
support via Rennlist membership is also important to help
sustain Rennlist operations.
Today we have Rennlist members in 29 countries!
For our paying Rennlist members, we offer free email
accounts, web space for individual web sites, special discounts
on Porsche authorized parts, discounts at the Rennlist Goodie
store, and other periodically announced benefits.
An
additional form of membership and support involves Porsche
racing, with several levels of membership and unique benefits
available. A core
goal of the Rennlist racing program is to raise funds for two
very worthy causes -- the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the
US and CLIC (Cancer and Leukemia in Childhood) in the UK.
As
you look at what Rennlist offers it's subscribers, members, and
sponsors, you'll begin to understand some of the drivers of
Rennlist's significant growth over the past three years.
However, while Rennlist can provide the vehicle and
opportunity for an international community to come together,
it's ultimately the people using Rennlist that forms it's true
strength. Although
the lists and forums exist to discuss your car; friendships and
bonds emerge. If a member has a new born, goes on vacation, has
a wonderful drive, or even has some not so good news, your
fellow list member generally wants to know about it. A level of
camaraderie has developed where caravans often form to major
events, and people come together under the Rennlist name on a
local basis. If you are new to our community, we welcome you,
and hope to establish this common friendship with you as well.
