Fantasy Becomes Reality

The concept behind this shoot is something that hasn’t really ever been done. Take a children’s toy and use clever editing techniques to make this look like a factory add for Lego. Details are pretty seamless and it’s difficult to pick out where the editing has actually taken place.

The Car

The GT3 RS is one of the best-received Porsches of all time. Oddly enough, the Lego GT3 that the Porsche Experience Center and many other outlets sell is one of the most popular items among adults. More people buy these than you would think since they are incredibly fun to put together. Each piece moves freely and there is a lot of intricacies that you wouldn’t expect until you remember it’s Porsche.

Concept and Themes

Conceptually, the pictures are different because they capture what someone who owns one of these cars might do to photograph their own vehicle. He really took time to make this toy look like it’s a real car that is on a high dollar photo shoot. It’s playful and serious all at the same time. Very cool stuff.

Day Job

When Tomek isn’t creating awesome artwork for us to drool over he can be found shooting commercials for some of the biggest car companies in the world. The shoot was done in Warsaw with Tomek wanting to have fun with people’s sense of scale on the 500hp goliath. I think he did a great job at playing with all of our brains, don’t you?

Overall Impression

This series is fun in a way that shows how dynamic one artist can be while using an iconic car that we all love as a medium. The fact it’s done with a toy just makes it that much more original and impressive. Each shot makes you stop and scratch your head for a moment before having the “Aha” moment that reminds you of what it was like to be 10 again. If one kid sees these photos and googles the GT3 RS then I’d say Tomek’s work is truly done. Thank you for reading.
