Unveiling a Speed Demon

Porsche is on the verge of launching an updated version of its all-electric sedan, the Taycan, with an anticipated range-topping model, the Turbo GT. Recently, it made headlines as test driver Lars Kern achieved an astounding lap time of 7:07.55 at the Nurburgring, demonstrating a remarkable 26-second improvement over the car's prior best lap.

Surpassing Competition

The Taycan Turbo GT's remarkable lap time not only eclipsed its predecessor but also outshone its key rival, the Tesla Model S Plaid, by a significant margin. Impressively, it even surpassed the records set by formidable contenders like the Porsche 918 Spyder and the McLaren 720S, positioning itself just behind the Rimac Nevera, one of the most remarkable electric hypercars on the market.

Technical Speculations

While Porsche hasn't disclosed specific details about the enhancements, reports hint at a revised chassis setup and new aero elements like a carbon fiber spoiler contributing to the Turbo GT's impressive performance. Anticipated to wield a three-motor setup generating around 1,000 hp, it's poised to challenge the Tesla Model S Plaid's power output.

Setting New Standards

The record-setting lap not only places the Taycan Turbo GT among electric hypercars but also establishes it as the fastest four-door electric vehicle at the Nurburgring, demonstrating its prowess on the track.

Prototype Insights

The test drive, conducted by Lars Kern, showcased a pre-series Taycan model hinting at the upcoming Turbo GT variant. Despite lacking street-legal features, its performance matched consistent lap times. Porsche plans to release a full onboard video of the lap in mid-March, coinciding with the model's anticipated launch.

Racing Towards The Reveal

With anticipation building, Porsche's imminent unveiling of the facelifted Taycan and the Turbo GT promises to redefine electric vehicle performance, setting a new standard for speed and handling in the EV segment.
