This first one up for offer is a Beautiful Fully Restored 1959 Porsche 356A Cabriolet in Red with a removable Black Hardtop over a Tan interior with a beautiful Red dash and Black leather seats. The Porsche 356A is powered by a 1.6L Flat Four Cylinder engine producing 70 hp through a Rear Wheel Drive and a 4-Speed Manual Transmission.
In late 1958 Porsche decided to make some subtle yet brilliant changes to their already instant classic, the 356, by featuring a slightly taller and more practical windshield (which also allowed for more headroom when the hard top is in place), roll-up glass side windows, and more comfortable leather seats than in previous years. Karmann produced the hard top for the 1959 356A Cabriolet. Porsche only produced 944 of the 1959 Cabriolet model until they decided to replace the model with the 356B Speedster model the following year.
This particular 356A is a very rare collectors grade, numbers matching 356A Hardtop Convertible. This vehicle has spent most of it's life in the basement of a local Omaha, Nebraska Porsche Club enthusiast. It was purchased in the early 1960's from a struggling dental student who needed the money for a semesters tuition. From that point on, this beautiful 356 rested in storage for almost 40 years being cared for by a local enthusiast. It was eventually sold from the enthusiast to his friend in Houston, Texas. This piece of Porsche history spent the next 2 years being fully restored to it's current better than new condition. This 356 was ideal for restoration since it truly a rust-free example of Porsche history. Now fully completed, this car is a must see & must own for any Porsche enthusiast.
Thanks in advance for any feedback and as always, I would appreciate any referrals.
Please feel free to PM, call, text or email with any inquiries..

Hardtop or Soft-top CAN BE FITTED
Just to clarify a misconception. A soft-top and a card-top can be fitted! I owned a 1958 Hard-top and fitted a Soft-top. So both tops work fine!
I owned one of these for 17 plus years…
Cheers,
Bert

I believe there are two versions of these. You are correct that in one version, one can fit a hard top to a convertible car by removing the canvas roof - I have a 59 Carrera Cab with both tops. I believe this car, however, was built as a 'hardtop Cabriolet' and cannot take a convertible top. One can tell by examining the sail wings in the back seat area. This car looks like the car which sold at RM at Pebble Beach last August. If so, it is a nice car (with a fair amount of Bondo) and priced about $40k more than what it sold for at auction.

Nice looking- as nice as the undercarriage, interior is etc, why would it have ANY bondo instead of metal repair restoration, etc?? If you go to that extent elsewhere, why go half-assed on the body??? What am I missing?
(I just finished restoring my '73 914 and it has NO bondo-of course I spent more than the car will ever be worth to someone else, but it will stay in the family at least thru another generation. This is an open 356, why cut corners?)
