Looks pretty slick, no idea how well it operates but certainly an interesting idea.

I got this same e-mail and it seems extremely expensive. The advertised battery life is impressive though and it appears to be a pretty simple install, replacing the lid of your breakaway battery box. The price includes the first year of tracking but no information on tracking costs for subsequent years.
I actually have a trackmate DASH tracker (trackmate.com) which was $70 on Amazon which I installed in my trailer earlier this year. My tracking plan is $27 charged quarterly. The hookup is 3 wires, hot and return go to my winch battery and I connected the ignition "trigger" wire to the internal trailer light circuit that gets power when connected to the tow vehicle. This step allows the 5 min updates while the trailer is in motion. A full charge on the winch battery will keep the tracker powered up for approx 3 months.
The web based software allows geofencing and I have fences set up for my house, and the storage facility. E-mails and texts alert me if the trailer exits the fence. This feature is particularly useful and I set up temporary fences whenever I stop with the trailer at hotels in case anyone tries to make off with my trailer.
There is a newer version of the tracker DASH 2 which has a sleep mode where the device deactivates after no movement and then activates again when movement is detected. Battery life would be a non issue with one of these.
I realize this reads like an advert but I am really impressed with this device and it's lot cheaper than $300.

Worth every penny, especially when she's snow-birding at Sebring this winter, stayed 10 days at MidOhio last May. She's stored offsite when home so I appreciate the peace of mind.
Sends me a daily location texted to my phone, with a satellite view available by desktop.

here is what I use on my boats.

There are some pretty amazing recovery stories on the boating forums on boats being tracked as they are running south out of florida. Costly, but great product.

Three Wheelin'
I just bought some Tile Mates that I will be using. I will glue one to my tire trailer and leave one in my car while they are "on winter break"
