Porsche's new philosophy with the GT3 according to AP
'm surprised nobody has posted about this article today. It is an interesting short read with AP himself addressing many of our concerns about the 'fun to drive' factor of the new GT 3 car and how the new engine stacks up against prior super Porsches including the Carrera GT.

This is what the GT3 should have bin in 2014. Unfortunately it seems like AP is making excuses for not keeping up with the competition in regards to performance. With his purist comments.. This is clearly a one step back and two steps foward approch. Never guessed it would takes 5 or 6 years to straiten out there problems though. I'm sure denial that there ever was a problem to begin with had a lot to do with it. This is more like take II. Unfortunately for Porsche in today's rapidly moving world many have moved on to different brands and I don't see them running back so soon.

I agree with the above (largely) and although I have put down a deposit on the .2 RS, I am actively considering a build to order Macca for 2018.
Its worth looking at the photos of the RSR chassis - its clearly mid engined. Its going to be a difficult call if the RS is a GT3 with "aero"
I am utterly convinced, if Porsche built a mid-engined GT3/RS it would be brilliant and consistent with the motorsport philosophy - clearly the new RSR is competitive. Where does that leave the GT3?
Have a read of Christophorous, the torture is palpable "This is what Porsche has done with the 911RSR, reversing the arrangement of the engine and transmission" ()......."the engineers have moved the naturally aspirated, high rotation six cylinder boxer engine toward the middle of the car..............." "From the outside it looks like a 911............"
AP the answer is so simple, make a mid-engined GT3 and GT3 RS...........easy job done.

They made a manual GT3 because there is a market for it. Now they can have more customers, thus more money. I love Porsche but they have turned into a company that knows exactly how to make people spend all the extra money on their products and they sell it so easily with a few words from AP in an interview. Ain't nothing wrong with that but just know that once you think you are satisfied with their product, they release the newest most badass pure driving experience automobile ever yet.

I hear what you're saying - however, this very day my dealer (whilst enquiring about the RS) told me as it currently stands, they (this particular dealership) are unlikely to deliver a single GT3 with a manual (e.g. the top of the allocation pile is full of orders for PDK). Obviously, this may be different elsewhere.
