Default Gauging interest in selling a 79 928 5spd no sunroof

*If not allowed, please disregard/delete*

Im posting to see if there would be any interest in a 79 5spd no sunroof car. At the moment it's a project that will need time to finish. Interior is gutted. The engine has run using brake cleaner through the intake. Alot of tune up basic parts are installed. Many vac. leaks fixed etc. Car is located in Gaviota,CA and has been stored indoors since Ive had it. Original forest green paint, but has been painted red at some point. Needs paint anyways. I can elaborate much more about the car via PM. Basically it's a solid car with a Nevada title that can be a great project for someone who is willing to put some time and money into it. A good base. $1500 cash will take it along with all of the stuff I still have for it. Please PM if interested. Thanks!

Gives an idea I guess. Again, I can elaborate and send more pics if anyone is interested. This shows the car is complete and where its been stored. Also, no dents anywhere and the wheels are in really good shape for some reason haha.

Unless you are going to near give it away, you aren't going to have much luck. Mark down in Anaheim might be where this goes soon. Even if I start at $zero investment base, it'll be +$15k to get it where it's decent condition. Then, if trying to sell it, I've got to show where it started. The 928 isn't like the 911, where you can make good money on basically a VIN plate and title.

It's funny that people will take rusted out American cars built by the millions and spend thousands welding in floor pans and rocker panels and go onto total restorations whereas nobody wants a classic Porsche with good bones to start with??
Best of luck to you, hope someone saves it.

Step right up MM. Here's your chance to make a fortune. I like fantasy as much as the next guy, but even though this is the year, and the color and trans I'm looking for, I need to get one for $1000 or so. Doubt the owner is willing to do that. I bought a 85 stick for $2000 last year. Where is the end? Like you said, a 73 'Cuda might fetch $60k when all done from a poor start. But the 928? Meh - maybe $25k tops, but to go over that, you need a level of refresh that will take 2000 hours, and big bucks.

$1000 cash? come n get it. I'm not sure if that was directed towards my car, but if it was and you're serious then come on up!

I appreciate the input. My only rebuttle would be there is no way you could put an accurate or even approximate "it would take" price based on pne photo and a brief paragraph. There are many variables and many different ways you can go with this car.

Yeah - I can. This isn't my first rodeo. I'll think about heading out.

Oh I'm well aware of the realities involved, that is just the way the classic car market is. All I am saying is that it is a shame.
Me? I have my own project car and I am limiting the craziness to one!

What's the interior like? Will the removed interior bits be included?

Completely gutted. I have the dash, power seats, instrument cluster, and the cluster pod and the steering wheel. Dash and seats have to be restored.

Doc is way off on this one. $15k will hardly scratch the surface. This looks like a start from scratch rebuild.
