GTS is nicely priced, actually
Sorting through all the free stuff you get you can actually end up with a GTS being cheaper than an S (without powerkit) if you:
Incomplete builds to compare:
http://www.porsche-code.com/PHWXJFR9
http://www.porsche-code.com/PHZ1CSD7
Free stuff in 991.2 GTS:
$900 2nd grade trim (alu, painted, or leather, and carbon is a bit cheaper)
$800 sports steats plus 4-way
$435 alcantara seat center, and you are not forced into the 18-way seats
$910 alcantara steering wheel and shifter (choice of free GT wheel)
$595 painted logo in black
$2990 sport design front
??? black headlights
$2950 black PSE
$1650 black paint if you want 5-lug 20" carrera s wheels
$890 20mm lower SPASM (unless you delete)
Half included:
- model designation painted on doors
- emboss on headrests
- alcantara center console (no logo)
- sportdesign mirrors, but lower side not painted
Obvious:
- Powerkit
Stuff not available on GTS:
- Assume you want alcantara seat centers
- Assume you do not want 18-way seats (in the GTS you can have 4-ways with Alcantara)
- Of course it is assumed you want all the extras in the GTS and pay for them when going S

- Other wheels or other wheel colors
- Alcantara steering wheel with regular leather interior
- All basic interiors except black
- Regular front fascia
- 2-way non-plus seats
- Wood, including wood shift ****
- No discount when you buy the entire "Sports Package". Did not do the math on that, the package is whacky anyway

To drive the number game some more, some items in the GTS are within the mental framework applied overpriced:
Going 2S coupe to 4S targa or 4S cab you still pay $19200, should have been a bit cheaper if they follow their own logic. That's a bit tragic since the Targa GTS with its black bow looks killer. Consequently the GTS most discounted is the C2GTS.
- The upgrade from the 2S to the 4S is $6900, which includes AWD, the wider body etc. Going 2GTS to 4GTS you still pay $6900 although the wider body is already in the 2GTS. I suppose the middle light strip is very $$$.
- Likewise, the Coupe GTS already contains the 20mm SPASM, which is normally $890. Going to GTS Cabrio or GTS Targa drops that extra, however going vert/targa on the GTS costs the same as doing it for the S
- On the other hand, making PDK more expensive on the GTS because SC (and hence launch control) is always included - Porsche did not overlook the possible upcharge here

Squid, nice work, you definitely deserve the employee discount.
GTS is a very attractive package for many. Wide body, rear-wheel drive and superior forged Turbo S wheels (plus Powerkit) would be enough for me to go GTS if I were in the market for one.

CL wheels sort of suck IMHO. (And I have them of course.)

A lot of the other stuff is very convincing. A C2GTS with not much added seems like a very much upgraded car, even before counting for power and wide body.
Too bad that although discounted the absolute price level of the C4GTS Targa is very high. It should hold value very well, but what do I know. The 991.1 Targa is rare and might take the desirability cake from the 991.2 Targa.

You know I didn't even notice the other interior trim at no charge. More decisions! What's black brushed aluminum that's standard? Also how is the no charge brushed aluminum shift **** (7mt) different than standard? I have a May build so I don't think it locks until March.

The shift **** upgrade also includes a leather upgrade for the area around the shift ****. The regular shift **** always has black leather. Any shift **** upgrade gets you that leather piece in the interior color of your seats. The GTS always has upgraded shift **** (default is alcantara).
I wish that Porsche did what Ferrari does, which is 2-tone interiors so that you can have black Alcantara seat centers with brown or whatever leather on the side bolsters. Could lighten up the cabin a bit.

Back to this original thread, I'd have stepped up to the GTS almost entirely for the modest power increase. The Alcantera etc were just icing on the cake.

I'd suggest you do a search on CL wheels, but here's a taste,

If you never, ever, and I mean never have to remove and install a wheel yourself, or ever need a tire installed somewhere other than a Porsche dealer, you could probably live with them.

Pretty much fully loaded C4S+X51 is $188,250USD. Trying to build a 4GTS as close as possible was only $186,130. Crazy that the C4S+X51 is $2,000 higher. Warning: Several internet cows were injured in the making of these configurations.

I spent $144k on my CS - so given what one gets in the GTS it doesn't seem to be crazily priced to my eyes.
I just specced a GTS w/ similar options to ones I would want (bar the higher end multi-ways to keep Alcantara) and came in about $9k less. Had to forgo seat ventilation to keep Alcantara.
Edit: forgot glass 'roof, PDLS & E&D so ~ -$4k less. And +30 hp. Deal.
