Deviated stitching mess
Hey guys,
My long-awaited car just came in. Everything is deviated LO stitching BUT the extended dash leather is silver stitched. Somehow between my dealer and Porsche Exclusive it was missed.
Someone please tell me it's an easy fix!
If you've had a similar experience could you please let me know how it turned out?

Thanks bud, just realized this morning and let them know. We'll see what they say. We have a long relationship and I have every confidence they'll make it right. Just trying to figure out how big a dea it is so I stop agonizing over it!

That sucks. Even though I checked, double checked and triple checked my build sign CXX group and dealer, the factory still had one small screw up. They added side skirt decals. Again, that's not the same as having 3 diff color dev stitching (who would think that is right???), but I've heard enough screw ups like this to know it happens more often than ideal.

My GT3 has the standard gray stitching. When the dealer got the car, they noticed that the steering column cover had yellow stitching. They ordered the replacement cover but when they got it, the stitching was black so they had to order it again. Very minor and easy to fix but it took a while.
I wondered what the factory worker was thinking when he saw the different color. Maybe he thought the customer ordered it that way.

The worker most likely won't notice the different stitching color on the seats since the seats are covered during the installation and the seats remain covered until delivery.
This really sucks, hope Porsche sends a new dash with the correct color stitching.

Even better, the front dash is lava orange stitching, the back dash near the window is silver stitching as are the side panels of the dash. It would seem hard to miss.

Saw a car mismatched exactly like this at Cars and Coffee at Champion in Florida! crazy!

The guys on the line just install what's tagged for the car. They don't have time to question it. Each part gets scanned and the system tells them if it's correct or not and they install. If the parts aren't available the car continues down the line and gets flagged to be address later. There's QA folks that are supposed to check everything, you would think they would question. But I can see where an order says XX and XX is installed, done, it's correct. This needs to be caught by the dealer/customer before the order is finalized.

I added the extended dash stitching under the windscreeen thru exclusive option. Took a month. Contact them and see if they can do LO stitch I suspect they can. At least it's that piece and not the front piece. In any event PAG can fix this (if I can replace that piece they certainly can). Hope I'm reading your message right and it's the piece by the windscreen that's incorrect. If your dash end caps are also wrong Those are also easy to replace.
This is more of the speaker cover but in the background is the Piece under the windscreen I added.

Custom Order:
Do not assume your dealer ordered
what you thought they ordered per
your wishes. Hope PAG/PCanada screwed
up & not your dealer! I recently heard
of a PTS 991 that came in the wrong
color at Porsche of North Houston...
and PAG/PCNA had to make amends.
But in most cases. it is 'order input error'
by your dealer (sorry to say).

aimed to help those of us custom ordering a 991 or
a 981 in trying to understand the process & avoid
the pitfalls that can present themselves along the
way. They have proven quite popular & have a
combine readership of over 600,000 views. And
we illustrated there a few instances of an error in
ordering (sadly more consequential & more obvious
than the OP's deviating stitching 'fail') which were
executed by the factory in production because
dealers had ordered them this way (not knowing
that it was not going to look right!)! They were
trying to create a two tone interior (like the ones
presently offered by PAG) but didn't realized the
parts that were not color-coordinated in their 'build'.
https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7085...and-you-5.html
And managers or assembly workers at PAG are not in
the habit of challenging what dealers order as they
assume dealers know exactly how to spec a car from
Porsche! And that is often NOT a safe or reasonable
assumption, as you can see from the photos above!
So caveat emptor!

Good luck Bartron. Hopefully someone (PAG/
Porsche Canada/Your Canadian Dealer) will
make it right for you!

Can you tell us what was the cost
for that part that you ordered after
the car came in? Did you ordered
it through your local dealer or Suncoast?
In the US, that option (CZW) is
currently $1770 if ordered with
the car originally. It is one of
my favorite options & one that
I recommend to anyone custom
ordering a 991!

PS The most likely explanation for the 'fail' is that
dealer didn't realized that PAG would charge extra
for deviating stitching for just this option - CZW.
So they didn't request it (nor payed for it) & assumed
that CZW would be done in the same deviated stitching
as what they requested & paid for in the 'full leather' interior.
Porsche looks at order & says to itself: 'No pay, no deviated
stitching'...which is the Teutonic version of our famous
'No ticky, no laundry' comedy skit!

My car came with wrong side decals although I sent pics and detailed explanation to my dealer. On the positive side, I got Racing yellow stitching free of charge and the stitched arm rest wasn't charged either (charged wihout CXX stitching). I will see the car next week in person, hopefully no other mess ups..

It's a bit more piecemeal then the porsche package and I ordered directly thru exclusive option in CA who use porsche OEM parts and have partnered with Suncoast for some pieces that I assume PAG won't sell after market (if any?). Here is what I can reconstruct:
Defroster Trim (pair) - 889 (under windshield/windscreen)
Dash Speaker Trim (pair) - 589
Dash Endplates (pair) - 414
Steering Column (2pcs.) - 604
