Much like my 997, the more of a frankenstein the better. PM me. Looking to pay reasonable price for a driver car, not a garage queen.

There was one that just popped up yesterday for $80k - looked like a pretty good price. Keep in mind that any early 911 is going to be expensive unless it's a pile of rust. Really well done professionally built 911 hot rods are $200k + these days.

Sorry, guess I'll keep my humor to myself in this thread.

Take a look at what was Ed Hughes' "Ruby" that currently resides at "Einmalig" in Huntington Beach, Ca. She's an '84 Targa sans some interior, engine, and trans. If you want a guilt free project car that has history, like Patrick Long's signature on the glove box, then this is the car. I know it isn't currently a driver, but there must be a dozen engines in the same building.

A decent long hood is going to cost you around $80,000. You might want to think about a 3.2 hot rod.

Then again you never really said what reasonable means to you. That's sort of important.

Derek Bell drove my 911 faster than it has ever gone. And, he said he was only at 7/10s.

You are 10 years too late. Almost nobody would hot-rod a true early 911 these days because of their value. Even many early 911 racecars are being back-converted to stock. Your best bet would be to find yourself an early 911 racecar and hot-rod it yourself, to your heart's content.

Saw that one (white one from BaT?), very tempting but above budget (looks worth it though...)

I am definitely open to SC / 3.2 and other 70's - 80's years. I shouldn't have said "early" perhaps. I mean anything before a 964.

Only interested in coupes (no targa/cab). Ideal car would probably be a mid-70's with galvanized tub but engine swap to 3.0/3.2 and backdated bumpers.

Ruby's guts inside a '73 faux RS that my cousin did 25 years ago. You finish. Zero rust ever. Not cheap, but not like I'm ever going to put the whole blob together.............

(Plus Ruby before and after, on its way to Doug as the intermediary to where it now sits + gratuitous pictures of what my cousin got into due to this car.)

I know of a dark green long-hood in the LA area that has been buried in a garage for 25+ years.
69-73 or thereabouts vintage.

In good shape, straight body and intact interior, but would need some good cleaning and at the least a thorough engine inspection/reseal.

Guy not in a hurry to sell it but I'm sure if you walked in with a check for $60k he'd have open ears.

the floor on a long hood hot rod - basically any 'real' long hood shell plus a decent mechanical conversion (3.2 or built whatever) plus good paint and serviceable interior is min about 70k right now. A really really nicely done one is well, sky is limit but if you do math on doing it ***** out you're looking at 150-200k. Or more.

Bat has one, one on pelican, a few others have popped up. But that's the range.

Like you I'm shopping. A back dated car will be less $.

PM ask on the brown one.

I think you could get into "Ruby" as a roller for $12K and they have everything you could possibly need to get her back on the street right there in the building.
