Default 911R. the best 911 you can't buy ?

Generally nails the point of the car. Give me that over pdk anyday. And damn do I like the cleanliness of the narrow wingless body without extra rice vents everywhere.

It's not actually the narrow body but the GT3 / C4 / Targa wide body. Wider than the C2 but not as wide as the Turbo / RS.

It's certainly a shame that most of these cars will never actually see the road.

As long as the recipe for this car trickles down to the next few generations of the GT3, I think that will appease the masses. And people won't be so bitter about not being able to buy one.

Give them less, charge more, limit the number.
Porsche's time tested recipe. And it works well.

yes, but on limited production vehicles, I can't imagine this is a huge profit centre for them. More a PR thing. Money is made on the SUV's.

Totally agree, they could have had the mrsp up another 50K and still sold them before released. It's the guys flipping these cars that will be making all the money off the 911Rs.

Basically I think this was a successful proof of concept for Porsche. They didn't develop the 6-speed manual gearbox for just one car and this validates decade for a GT-style manual.

Sorry for the OT but I'm admiring your 993 on your avatar. Is it Riviera blue? Is it a wrap or painted?

Marketing at its finest

997 gt3/RS/4.0

991 gt3/RS pdk only. Sell 5000 units

Retain values of 997 for used car profits

981.1gt4 6mt sell 5000 units.

991R limited numbers but huge PR

991.2 gt3/RS 6mt. Sell 5000+ units

Lots of gen 1 trade ins. Depressed pricing. Flip out for profit.

981.2 GT4 sell 5000 units with shorten gearing and "last NA". Lots of gen 1 trade ins

991.2 GT2 and gt3 4.2L sell thousands more.

the most over-hyped car i have seen in awhile...

Take a 991 GT3, take off the aero and put in a slower manual tranny.

Less performance for more money in the name of nostalgia.
People fighting over them.

Imagine if the GT3 only came with no aero and a manual tranny.
And then porsche decides to offer a limited run with PDK-S paddle shift and big downforce and call it the "R".
People would be going nuts for them. Anything limited i suppose.

Love the interior however
