Challenges in finding the right 997.2
Am amazed at how challenging it has been in my search for a 997.2 911 S coupe with relatively low miles and manual transmission. Guess I'm picky in finding the right car because I tend to keep them for several years and want to love it. Making this more difficult is my preference for colors other than the more common black, white, and silver/grey. Have been searching well known sites and ideally would buy from another forum enthusiast. Patience is a virtue I suppose...

just stick with it. I searched for my car for nearly a year. I personally wouldn't get too fixated on it having ultra low miles.. but there are plenty of examples with around 20-30k miles. it's worth the wait to get the perfect one and not compromise. certain options can be added after the fact, as I was forced to do in order to get the proper spec GTS I was after. Interior finish options will be the most difficult/expensive to add after.. I mean if its just a porsche crest on the center console thats one thing, not a big deal, but adding full leather for example..

I searched for over a year for my perfect car ala color/options. I wanted a Orange Cabrio non S first, with a Speed Yellow one second and third choice being a black car.
I never seen the first two choices with the options I wanted so I conceded I was getting a black car and found the exact one within 2 weeks and bought it.

Keep the faith, you'll find it. Get one with the big stuff you want - engine size, trans type, drive system, interior and exterior color - the other stuff is pretty easily changed like seats, interior trim, suspension, etc.
Good luck with your search.
Good luck with your search.

2009 was a really low production year, the first of the .2 line... crap global economy. Counts climbed from there. You may be dealing with legitimate scarcity depending on the year. You don't say what you want to spend or the year, I suspect you are hoping for an '09 or 10........ slimmer pickings.

Thanks Bruce. Looking for 2009-2012 997.2 S coupe, manual transmission. Nice examples, lower mileage, ect seem to range $50-60k. Do not want black and would prefers colors other than white, silver, or grey and this definitely limits choices available.

You generally get what you pay.
I spent a long time searching (about 1.5 years).
Was worth the wait.
If time is of the essence, a willingness to pay more may cure the issue...

I am that way. I only want ultra low mileage, concourse condition car, all the options and with the right color combo.. I did score my C4S but it took time. There are tons of high mileage cars and they are the ones everyone brags how cheap they can get them for but those cars and market value mean nothing to me.

Prices have really stabilized. My car is worth what I bought it for 2 years ago.. I'm under 30k mileage and have all the performance options but I'm not selling until I find a replacement and my car is white
also C4S go for over a little over 60k+ for low mileage.
trick is to MOVE quickly on the one you want that pops up.. or you're going to be waiting awhile.
As stated the slimmer optioned and performance option models move the quickest.
I'm trying to jump to a 991.1 C4S with SPASM, Sport Chrono plus, PDK, CPO vehicle.. 4 months searching now.

As reported, I recently purchased a 9000 mile, one owner 09' C2S.
Cream white, sports seats/painted backs, painted console and dash trim, Bose, blue tooth, sport chrono, manual trans, Nav, natural brown leather, etc.
All original paint, etc.
Bought new Carrera Sport Wheels
Really new condition
Paid about $65000. Too much-probably but not by much

Thanks for all the replies guys and words of wisdom. I missed out on a one owner private sale 997.2 S coupe, manual, and only 20ish K miles for asking price of only $45K late last week. Grey color was not my first choice, but seemed like a great deal. Sold quickly and I believe someone here may have purchased in Santa Cruz, CA.

Back to your original question. I originally had the same problem. I was looking for a low milage, stick shift, 997.2 S for less than $60,000 via a private seller. Right now, Autotrader says there are 15 of those for sale in the entire US! Only one of them is not silver, black or white and it's 2600 miles away from me. The car I bought was optioned exactly the way I would have - other than the color - and I ultimately decided that silver is just fine. For me, the enjoyment I'd get from having the "perfect" color would outweigh the effort searching or all the time I'd spend searching instead of driving the less-than-perfect car. It worked out for me and I'll feel even better after I replace the silver "S" on the back with a new red one!
Good luck.
