To All
I am debating going to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit primarily to look at a couple of things. It is about a 5:30 drive from my house. I want to see the BMW M2, and the 2017 Ford GT. It is said the production ready GT will be there.
Has anyone here ever purchased something limited from Ford? No numbers have been given by the company, but from what I can find, they will build 500 - 1000 cars. Is there a deposit system? Anyone know? Are they made out of the same unobtainium materials that RS's are made from?
Thanks!

In order to buy a 17 Ford GT you will have to submit a resume to Ford and they will decide who gets to buy the GT. The people who bought 05-06 GT's new and still have them will get priority. This will eliminate ADM'S. MSRP will be $400K+. Production will be 150-200 a year for a few years.

I've purchased a Shelby GT500, Boss 302 Laguna Seca and a new Shelby GT350 from Ford and I have almost zero chance of getting a shot at the Ford GT.
My understanding is you have to be selected by Ford for this one.

I own a FGT, aluminum bodied Shelby 427 powered by an original '65 427 NASCAR Side Oiler, Boss 302 LS (Ingot Silver 1 of 133 and production #46), Boss 302 Trans Am Spec TA3 race car, '07 Shelby GT, 2013 Ford Raptor. Will be filling out an application for the new FGT.
Chances are low of getting one but if by chance I get an allotment will be buying it instead of a GT3RS.
Ford did this right. Can you imagine the crazy ADMs for the NFGT if Ford gave them to dealers?

Ford are selling these cars. No allocations to dealers. Hand picked customers. Dealer that handles delivery to customer will get a little check from mother company for the hassle. Something for Porsche to consider for select models?

Have a friend who was offered one and vaccilated because the price came out about 25% higher than expected. He is now working to get "back" on the list and I expect he will, not least because of his collection and influence but because he is local to Deteoit. Other friends are begging him to help them get Ford's attention. It is not easy. As others have said, they are being very careful. They are also very aware of both the secondary market and the possible impacts of both success and failure at Le Mans this year (50th Anniv of first GT40 victory). If you want one, start working on it NOW.

Leno and VIPs will get first shots. With TOTAL production world wide Of 1200 units chances are slim for the average or even above average enthusiast like me to get an allocation. As my grandma used to say "the rich get all the bargains".
Although I am clearly a very loyal Ford enthusiast which will be reflected in my application I fully understand my chances are much much better in landing an RS at or near list than getting a NFGT allocation.
If Ford wins at LeMans this year the car will be worth twice list and gen 2 FGTs will go up in value substantially. Mho.

I think these cars will go for 1 mil on the secondary market -maybe more.
I was "offered" a second hand La Ferrari the other day at a cool $4.5 million...LOL
These car markets are insane right now.
