It is in excellent condition, with pretty low miles and a ton of documentation. Very hard to find 18 year old cars with essentially complete service records dating back to the original sale. The car has been treated well throughout its life and has not been abused. I think the option set is pretty desirable, especially the full leather, and a relatively unique colour combination (too many 911s for sale in black, gray, and silver). I went into my original 996 search not looking for anything other than a 996.2 C4S, but I definitely fell for this car when I saw it.
This year of 996 had a dual-row IMS bearing that is extremely low rate of failure (sub-1%), while 2000/2001+ cars had a higher-failure rate single-row bearing. On the RL 996 forum, it's not an uncommon notion that early production 996 cars tend to be preferable, especially the 1999 model year. As an example: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...l#post14139892
The car has been well maintained, and many of the big ticket items have been replaced in the last 20k miles. Oil was changed in January, and new engine mounts were installed at the same time. The 60k service has been completed in piecemeal over the last few thousand miles. The recent inspection came back clean, and the car should be good to go for a good amount of time without having to worry about the wear parts.
There are some minor imperfections in the paint, as could be expected from any normal city-driven car of this vintage. I think they show up a bit more because of the dark colour, but they're also all pretty small. I think any decent detail shop could bring it to excellent condition without too much difficulty.
There are very few modifications. The previous owner replaced the exhaust with one from Powerflow. It's pretty interesting sounding, a bit high pitched and certainly louder than the stock exhaust, but not as brash as Fister or some of the Fabspeed stuff. The car is currently sitting on Turbo Twist II wheels as seen in the photos, but the wheel option noted on the build sticker was "413": 18" 993 Turbo-look solid spoke wheels and that is what will come with the car. The wheels have a bit of curb rash, but have fairly new tires (~8k miles on them).
I have a bunch of additional parts that can be negotiated as add-ons (or I'll sell separately). The list is as follows:
- OEM 996.2 Turbo Twist II wheels (8” front hollow spokes, 10” rear with narrow body offsets) - as seen in photos
- Sony XAV-AX100 CarPlay + Android Auto touchscreen Double-DIN head unit with mounting kit
- OEM replacement Graphite Gray parking brake handle
- rear center console painted in Ocean Blue metallic (to match the exterior)
- OEM Euro gray side marker lights
- Function First Transmission Mount Insert (Orange)
- OEM 997 shift console

Really nice car! Too bad you're so far away. I have an equally nice 2000 cabriolet that I would seriously consider trading. I've come to the realization that I would rather have a coupe or targa with a track oriented setup... yours would be a perfect candidate for me as long term keeper. GLWS

Come on guys with the far away comments. One of the fondest car memories you will have is flying in to buy a car and drive it home. Life is short... Driving is fun.
