Default New Porsche owner, 8hrs from everywhere

Hi, I'm Andre.
I just flew to Scarborough to pickup my lifelong dream, my first Porsche.
It's a 1991 964 tipo. Drove it back to Prince George where my wife and I now live.
Any advice as to things required on this model, especially where I should be going to get it serviced would be appreciated since I'm 8hrs from Edmonton, Calgary or the lower mainland. Suggestions? Parts?
Already in love with my new acquisition but feel quite lonely in PG and would love if there was another local guy I could talk to for guidance.

Otherwise, hi to everyone,
Andre

Welcome and congrats on the 964!

This is a great forum, due to the members that share a wealth of info, experience and expertise.

Did you know that white is the fastest color?

Love your car, and yes... white seems to be the fastest colour. About your buying non-chinese; I totally agree and have been practicing this for a while now, also telling my friends to buy "North American" 1st and create jobs here at home.
Thanks again for the reply, any special tips you can give a fellow owner I'm always listening,
Andre

www.eurasia.ca in Edmonton is good for servicing the 964's. Marc Shaw in Grande Prairie is a 964 raving expert he can be found lurking in the 964 section

I have sent Marc a few pm's and no reply yet, he's the closest member to my location at around 4hrs, faster in the Porsche.
Hoping he gets my messages and gives me a shout... He seems to have quite the machine, I use motorcycles for the track myself...

I can tell you where NOT to go in the lower mainland.
The list is long.

In lower mainland I suggest Scan Automotive in North Vancouver. Have been getting my P Cars serviced there for about 10 years with great success and they also did the mods to my 996 TT. James Daniels is the contact/owner.

I use Reigel in Calgary for my 964. Congrats on the new wheels.

My car is in the shop getting it's first "once over" as it should have been before the purchase. Fingers crossed that everything is good..

Anyone know if Marc Shaw from Grand Prairie still a member and/or still around? I have sent a few PM's and nothing back.
It would be great for me to have someone with experience with 964's within driving distance.

Finally got my car back, just over 3k... compression and leak down are excellent, I'm happy, now I need to get rid of that tractor look and get it lowered. Would Eurasia be the best to source for the parts and labor/alignment?
I'm open to go in BC or AB.
Any suggestions, I'm thinking some adjustable coil-over system instead of just lowering springs.

On my Turbo I did the lowering springs only (RUF). After 6-8 months of a very rough ride took them out and put Bilstein PSS10's in. Better ride and supreme handling are the result. On the Bilstein install I had the car corner balanced as well as new alignment. Work done by Scan in North Vancouver (James Daniels).

+1 on Reigel. Used to take my '82SC there. Had it lowered to Euro ride height and corner balanced and it was a totally different (and better) experience. Highly recommend this for anyone with the older NA ride-height Pcars.

I'm one of those far-away folks too. 5.5 hours to Calgary or Kelowna. Since purchasing my 2007 GT3 in March this year, I have taken it to Motor Werke in Kelowna. Their service is very good with a Porsche trained mechanic as well.
Also, If anyone wants a fun gathering event next year, check out Targa Tour through our BC Interior Region Porsche Club Chapter. This year it was held in Nelson BC and loads of great driving roads around Kootenay Lake (also it's in my back yard... yipee!)
