gas stations do not really determine what kind of gas they sell. The band of gas depends on your location. I live on vancouver island and chevron supply's all the gas on the island. They divide areas and supply specific areas them with one band of gas. This is what i was told when doing some work at a shell facility.

Husky's 94 Super Premium is a great product. The guy that owns the local Carrera GT swears by it. But they also carry 91 and 92 for those who don't what/need the high test.

Husky dropped recently 90 and 92 octane and went back to 87 and 89 respectively.
The 94 worked well in my Subaru and 997S. Just the $$$ kind of hurts!
$1.33 / L just filled up today.

I know...government intervention on the grades available. 94 still available at plenty of sites though plus I noticed that the 94 is the same price as shells 91. Food, er, fuel for thought.

I check gas buddy sometimes...Calgary fuel still one of the cheapest in the nation, thank god.

There's a few CGT's in town....

I really haven't noticed that big of a difference...except the ethanol blend gas makes the cars less fuel efficient.

I never noticed any difference in mileage but every car is different.

I get about 10% less KM on a tank when I use fuel with ethanol blended in, regardless of the car. 911, the Esprit, or any of the daily drivers.

That's interesting - first time I have heard this.

Full disclosure - I work for Husky and have never come across any industry testing or commentary that using ethanol based fuels was less fuel efficient than 'regular' fuels.

But I'm a curious sort so I will look into that and if I find any information will post it or a link. Notwithstanding your experience of course...

Hi Tomas993,
How about a complete spec for Husky 94 octane? Looking forward to see that.
I used it extensively in my WRX with great success and continue using it in 997.

Thread is a bit old, but.... Shell is one of the few that has NO ethanol in its premium. Yes, ethanol blends generally have less BTU's/energy so mileage will suffer some. Ethanol is also very corrosive, so lowest concentrations are best to preserve your fuel system.

Can't get Techron 94 here in Alberta, so I will stick with Shell VPower. With a higher altitude in Alberta, than mainland BC, there is not so much difference in octane performance (knocking), so Techron 94 might not be necessary anyway.

As well, the additive packages for various companies are added at the terminals depending on where the fuel is being delivered. If you are in the Edmonton area, you can be sure you are getting your branded fuel from the company of choice. Once you are south of Red Deer, you likely will be getting the brand of choice but not absolutely. The non-branded companies (Safeway) only get the very basic additive packages and they DO make a difference.

^good info, thanks. I use Shell V-Power with good results although it really bothers me that it is 12c/L more than regular here but only 5c/L more in the USA. I used to have a Subaru Legacy GT and ran the 94 Husky for a while but the Shell V-Power had the same performance and I typically got another 100 km/tank with V-Power, so I've stayed with Shell ever since.

Shell exclusively for me too. 911 and Esprit seem to like it.

I was shocked to learn the other day that Shell is now selling ethanol blended fuel in it's bronze offering (I fuelled the truck)....

It's still either V-Power or Petro Canada premium for me.
