Gearbox replacement on 996TT is an engine out job and G96/50 transaxles aren't cheap to repair.. A rebuilt unit depending what is done to it will cost between 8-10k with core from Gbox, BMC&G or Vertex. Then you get the "Might as well's" while the engine out..

I myself am looking for a turbo that requires "work"

Yeah, me too, but to avoid the n/a engines with potential IMS problems (RMS and block misalignment being the related issues from what I read most recently). Is the cab TT a different drive compared to a hard top?
