Default M90 - Porsche 964 Owners

M90 is alive! This is going to be awesome, the 964 is like the missing link in the evolution of 911s except that well....it's not really missing! It's right here...it's alive...and it's thriving!

As a kid, I always had an attraction to the 964 Turbo models, I remember seeing this cop movie as a kid and I was hooked. Growing up, I can't remember ever seeing a 964 coupe, plenty of earlier cars and even tons of 993s and even a few 964 targas and convertibles.

It wasn't until after already owning a 997 C2S that I saw one. I was immediately drawn in by the perfect balance between old classic cars and the smooth lines of the more modern ones. There was no doubt, this was going to be an obsession - I had to own one.

M90 is about events, even if you don't own one (YET!), if you share the same passion then let's have fun together!

I put together an initial Facebook page to get us started:

https://www.facebook.com/Montreal964Owners

Cheers

For upholstery, look up Reza (sp?).

Last I checked, his shop was on De La Savane (east of Decarie).

Cheers

Here is my full story: I was shopping to replace the canvas top (the liner) on my 964 and it looked like this was the right place to go. Canvas top and more complicated to replace than vinyl tops, and they had experience for this. The quote was over the phone. The guy knew what was needed to 964/993, he did it before. He said it was a good 2000$ jobs for the canvas and the work/adjustments (in 2009). But he warned me that the microswitches and motors could be worn as well and they may need to be replaced and that they were all expensives. He said, "If the top is not leaking and the Vinyl Windows is clear enough, you should delay the replacement". That's what I did. I finally sold the car in 2012.

They do all sort of repairs, they should be able to replace a headliner. About the price, I don't know if they are cheaps. IMHO, the 964s are collectibles now and unless this is awfully expensive, you should do the best job on them. This will pay when you will sell the car.

PS: I miss my 964. I would have keep it if I had the space...

Sell my car! Yikes..... I have spoke to many a 964 owner and most say they would'nt part unless they would no longer be able to drive. My plan is to keep my vintage air cooled 1990, and make sure it is alway in top shape... so for now there are a few astetic improvements I am working towards fixing, and enjoying every minute on the road. but YHO is bang on, and I plan to alway choose quality over $$ savings.

Cheers,
Richard
