Default Where to look for a 964

Hey guys,

I'm looking to sell my 986 this summer to buy a 964. The price is going up so fast and I think it's a good idea to invest my +/- 20 000$ in one right now rather than waiting next years. I looked on Kijiji, Lespac, Autohebdo and ebay, but I did'nt find what I want. To explain a bit more what my project is about; I'd like a 964 let say in moderate condition? You know, not so good but not so bad (not so much rust, motor in good condition, etc) I don't care if it's leaking like hell or have a poor interior, I only want a 964 good enough that I could rebuild in further years. Well, if you have any suggestions on where I could look for it instead of those popular website, please let me know. Also, I'll take any tips that you have for me!

Thank you very much for helping me to find my dream car

Belleau

A cab is easier to find than a coupe.
The low Canadian dollar, should, in theory, drive prices higher.
ie: why sell to a Canadian, when you can sell to an American, in American dollars?
A 30k U.S. car ~ 36000 Cdn.

Yes I know, But I don't want cab... I prefer to buy a coupe to be satisfied. Otherwise, I'd not like it...

Lots of people looking for manual 964 coupes. Have cash ready and act fast. Be prepared to travel to buy it. Try Pelican, Craigslist, and Autotrader as well.

The good ones will go fast, especially with the new regulations to import a car from the US ...
If you're lucky enough to find a Canadian car,be ready !

You could still import anything you want,it just became more difficult ( read pain in the *** )
Do a search, there were a few posts in the Canada forum regarding the new regulations ...

Cheers

$20,000, I really think you'll be very lucky to pick anything up for that money.

Paul's motors in Montreal had one for around $30,000 and it was a little shabby. Anyway these guys put a good premium on top but the way Aircooled are going I say be prepared to spend plenty on top of your 20 grand buy.

Good luck to you all the same.

You *might* be able to find a Targa for 20k in "needs some repair state" but honestly who want's a Targa or Cabrio? 993s have become too pricey so now people are wanting 964s but guess what's happening?

I did a PPI on one from another dealer that "specializes" in high end cars... It was follow the "oil drip road" or as I put it "PorscheValdez" and steering wheel that looked like a dog had chewed it apart... Of course asking top dollar Like the muscle car craze of years past the air cooled Porsche craze that's currently going on will have all the slapped together or shabby cars come out of the shadows.

Thanks guys for your answers! Well maybe I could put a bit more money if I sell my boxster in american dollar! But it seems like the value of them are 5k under in US so I'll not do any benefits from that... But I could try! How can I sell it in american dollar? On Ebay?

You will need to search local sites, like craigslist and etc. I think Toronto is the cheapest place to buy a used 911....even cheaper than the US from my experience.

At this point, I think you might have missed the boat...especially if your going to wait until the summer when prices go back up on P cars in general.

If I were you, I'd get out of that Boxter as fast as you can and jump on a 930 which can still be had for cheap.....maybe!

Yes it might be a good Idea to look for a 930. But what's blocking me is the performance. I don't know much about them but I know that the 964 had a big gap between the two, 80% changes. Is there significant changes if I go for a last year 930 in term of perfomance? I know that the sc with the 3.0 are a bit old and you have to drive the transmission carefully. What I want is a car that I can bring to the track and have fun so i'm not realy looking for the classic collection car. I'll do some search on the 930 on my side. Thanks

I honestly don't think you'll have fun with a 930 on the track, unless you are an experienced track driver.
at 20K$, you have better chances finding a SC or even a 911 pre-G50 than a 964.
But any of these cars at that price, be prepared to spend a lot of money on them, no matter what.

911, 930 and 964 are totally different cars.
