Another Team RennSpoon project " LATEST UPDATE"
Hey guys,
For those who have been following this endless transplant,i'll admit i slacked off last week and took a break because i was still needing some parts which were missing from my original order for which the good folks at Patrick Motorsports sent me at my expense ... but as of today all is good and everything is finally hooked up and connected.
I poured in 10 liters of Castrol 20w50 for "break in" purposes and connected the battery and nothing melted so it's a good sign so far ...
All that is missing is some fuel because i had to drain and remove the tank to run some new wiring to the front panel but i'll add 20 liters tomorrow morning and see how my new engine reacts to 12 years of inactivity !
All the new wiring is tidied up and tie wrapped, just have to connect my crankcase breather hoses to the catch tank, initialize my SW chip as per his instructions, pull out the fuel pump fuse, turn the engine over and see if i have oil pressure ...
That is going to be a pretty anxious moment as the rest of my track season rests on the completion of this project
I'll be back tomorrow with the outcome, hopefully it will be a happy moment, although i'm not expecting everything to run like a clock right off the start but some ignition and the sound of a 3.6 running in my garage with open headers should put a smile on my face !!!
Cheers
Phil

Well,i couldn't resist ... engine turns over, oil pressure builds up to 3 bars while cranking but i'm not getting fuel !
Nothing melted or fried,no blown fuses so that's a good start, tomorrow i'll address the fuel issue !!!
Only have the one DME relay so i hope that's not the problem ...
Cheers

I have three spares, two for my 3.2 and one 993 spare which has the blade terminals,i would need the model with pins ...
It's possible i wired the new fuel pump to an unswitched terminal when i redid the wiring, today will be an electrical troubleshooting day ... just hope it's not a driveblock issue with the 993 DME as that may be more time consuming than i would care for !
Cheers

S**t out of luck as i don't have spark or signal to the fuel pump ...going to try a known good DME and crank sensor tomorrow and see if that changes anything !
Could be my DME as it's not the one that came with the engine but rather a sketchy used driveblock unit i bought on Pelican classifieds.
I'm almost there
Cheers

FINALLY,after weeks of hard labor and many sweaty days in the garage crawling under the car,i'm happy to report that it's alive and well
All gauges work, oil pressure is good, all is well except for a small oil leak from the oil pressure sender (triangle of death area) which i will address after the engine cools down a bit.
Still have some troubleshooting to do regarding my ECU, but once again Andrew at WeTune pulled through for the local Porsche community as he let me borrow a known serviceable unit in order to start my car !
Have to admit it scared the crap out of me when it fired up as i wasn't expecting it and it was on straight headers ... made my dog scramble out of the garage ... lol
Now to fit those *%*&#$^ fiberglass bumpers ...
Thank you all who called and PM'd me for the moral support !!!
PS: No Matt, it wasn't the ECU out of your 993 as your car was not at the shop today
Cheers
